Oh, this was 7 years ago... I think suit changing was available only in the Menu of the game (gameplay was not affected). There should be some trigger that makes DP appear or reappear on the screen (perhaps he falls into the chair from above?). And with each reappear there is a chance he will arrive in a costume other than his default one.
