Getting VR working

  1. Right click on the game in your Steam Library and select "Properties"
  2. Click on the "LOCAL FILES" tab and click "BROWSE LOCAL FILES"
  3. Right click on MxNext.exe and select "Send to" -> "Desktop (create shortcut)
  4. Go to your desktop and right click on MxNext.exe - Shortcut and click properties
  5. In the Target box add -vr to the very end. There is a space.
Quality of life improvements
Before running in VR change the camera to 1ST PERSON to hide the head in VR.

I also recommended that you hide the HUD.
  • Pause the game
  • SETTINGS
  • GAMEPLAY SETTINGS
  • HEADS UP DISPLAY -> HIDE

I tried all this but the only thing it did was not allow my add-ons to work. It never came up in VR. I have a Quest 2 VR set and I tried it from the desktop and through Steam. Neither one worked. Does it need to use Steam VR? Will it work with a Quest 2?

I think my work around that launches the game outside of Steam breaks online. I think we would need support from Rainbow Studios/THQ Nordic to have online and VR work simultaneously.

got everything working but is there a way to make it playable online? my cousin and i are trying to play online in vr together but i cant seem to figure out how to get it to work

If I was a betting man I would bet that the broken menus is reason why the game doesn't have official VR support.

As for WMR controllers I figured out why they aren't supported. Oculus Touch, Vive Wands, and Valve Knuckles use the same/compatible mappings in UE4. Windows Mixed Reality uses unique mappings. The WMR headsets and controllers weren't out when this game first shipped so I doubt the needed configuration for them was ever packed in.

And one last question, is there a way to reset the viewpoint?

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried configuring the bindings but no luck so far...

The triggers work, but the joystick axes don't. Any ideas regarding that?

Also, the in-game menus are not properly mapped to the eyes. Is there a fix for that?

I'm pretty sure this game only works X-Input controllers and keyboards. Oculus Rift controllers might work as they are almost a 1-to-1 mapping of an X-Input controller. You may be able to remap the inputs from your WMR controllers using features built into Steam VR.

I followed the indications and it launches in VR, but the controller bindings aren't properly configured and I can't access the settings because the game's menus can't be seen inside VR and on are too large on my monitor.

This could be due to me having a WMR headset. Is there anything that can be done?
