Space Base Sci-Fi Scripted

描述
About this mod

This is a mod of a dice rolling, card drafting and engine building board game called Space Base by John D. Clair. I have placed the game in a sci-fi setting laden with visual/sound objects and effects. It’s heavily scripted with QOL features like ship cards deploying/undeploying, sector and individual cards swapping, token movements, scoreboards, active/passive reward markers, etc. Optional custom made ship cards based on the Shy Pluto expansion are also included.

You can purchase the physical board game and the expansions from the Alderac Entertainment store:
https://www.alderac.com/space-base/

The game rulebook:

Features

I will only describe the features I added for this game mod. For gameplay, refer to the rulebook.

Setups

Use the setup buttons to select one of three scripted game launch options. The descriptions are in the button tooltips. Except for the custom speed, all initial resources will be calculated for you based on the cards drawn.

Deploy/UnDeploy Ship Cards

Each sector on the command consoles has a deploy control button that deploys the ship card currently in the station. If there is no ship card in the station, the last deployed ship card will be undeployed back into the station; it acts like an 'undo' action for deployment if you make a mistake. The maximum number of deployed ship cards is eight.

Swap Between Sectors

Each sector on the command consoles has a swap control button that enables swapping options between sectors.
  • Select 'Sector' to swap all cards in the sector with another sector
  • Select 'Station' to swap the station card with another sector's station card
  • Select 'Ship #' to swap a deployed ship card with another sector's station card
Click the swap button of your target sector to complete the swap. To reset a swap before completion, click on the origin swap button again.

Active/Passive Sector Reward Markers
After the game starts, the command consoles will display sector reward markers after each dice roll.

Active sector rewards from your dice rolls are indicated with blue arrowheads pointing downwards to the blue colored rewards.

Passive sector rewards from other players' dice rolls are indicated with red arrowheads pointing upwards to the red colored rewards.

Doubles are indicated with twin arrowheads for either blue or red rewards.

Resource Scores, Game Rounds & Timer

Above each player’s command console are two resource score display boards, a game round display and the optional timer if enabled in settings.
  • The bigger board displays the resource scores based on the placement of the credit, income and victory-point tokens on your resource tracks in real time. The player with the current highest victory points gets the decorative corner frames.
  • The smaller board displays the resource scores from the end of the previous turn and will remain unchanged until the next turn.

An assortment of resource tokens of different shapes are provided for you to be used on the resource tracks.

There is a control on the left of the resource tracks that lets you reset the credit token to the score position of the income token.

For resource score points greater than 40, get a charge cube from the charging station and place it on the 40 position of the respective resource and simply start scoring again at the 0 space, adding +40 to the total.

UI Elements

The UI elements provide alternative methods in advancing the resource tokens.
  1. In hotseat mode, hover the mouse over the gears and enter 1-79.
  2. In online multiplayer mode, use the mouse input keypad or enter 1-79 in the input boxes.
  3. Control to toggle between the keypad and input boxes.
  4. Controls for camera views on the shipyard(yellow) or one of the player boards.
Elements 2 and 4 can be freely dragged to any locations on your screen.

Shipyard controls

  1. Toggle ship discard voting mode. Any ships voted for discard by players will be removed from the shipyard.
  2. Refill all ships in the shipyard. (The shipyard auto refills on each turn.)
  3. Toggle buy mode. Any ship or colony card that the active player can afford will display the 'Buy' command button.

Larger Card Icons

All the colony and ship cards were updated with larger credit and segment icons for easier reading.

Settings

The settings control displays the game settings panel for the following options:
  • Set an optional time limit for a player’s turn.
  • Select ship discard voting rule.

Miscellaneous
  • Player colors are restricted to Blue, Purple, Red and Green.
  • All colony and ship cards rotate towards the active player on each turn.
  • The shipyard auto refills on each turn.
  • To remind you to roll the dice during your turn, you’ll see stars!

Acknowledgement

The scans of the cards and the command consoles(player boards) of the base game are from the mod by DocWilly. The command consoles have been edited and implemented with a new script to support the new features.

The dice rollers and square buttons are from Mr Stump who makes great scripted tools for TTS. I modified his Click Roller tool and adapted it for this mod.

I have incorporated several miniatures created by ThatRobHuman into this mod. Check out his workshop items, he has a collection of incredible and detailed space ships.

The rest of the figurines and particle effect objects are from various collections I found in the workshop.

Enjoy the rocket launch and the game!

Incredible mod! Played with friends yesterday and had a blast. Two feature requests:
* When we buy a ship, instead of spending the amount of coins stated in the card, the rules say that we should consume all available money. The mod should reflect that.
* Automate sector rewards (if possible). Clicking on an arrow should collect the respective reward and invalidate the respective dice.

Thanks for the amazing job!

Not sure if you can do this amendment or not, but it'd be nice to make card swapping a little easier.
At present, to swap two cards from the deployed area you need to "undeploy" one of them. It would be great to have the ability to not have to do this.
For instance. press "swap" - "ship 3" on one stack, then "swap" - "ship 1" on the other stack.
I hope this makes sense!

Always a great game.
We were discussing that it would be great if you had a surrender option, Maybe a ship with a white flag goes across the screen?

Would it be difficult on your end to implement a workaround? Even if it isn't possible to get all of the scripted elements to resume, it would be really nice to have at least some of the mechanically relevant ones do so.

@TheKuhnOne
Loading from a save or rewinding is not implemented in this mod. It's a quick game so no scripting is done for it to be saved and continued at a later time.
TheKuhlOne 2022 年 4 月 30 日 上午 10:15
Loading a save and rewinding time seem to kick all players out of the turn tracker and reset the game to not-yet-started conditions, with no way to "start" the game and thus re-enable scripting ("function will be enabled after game start" pop-up appears for all buttons). Is there any workaround for this or something we're missing? Maybe a button to continue the game?

@Capt. Bollocks
I have heavily customized the dice roller script for my mod. In its current state, it is not a standalone object that can be used in another mod without causing errors. It will need to be reworked as a standalone roller, if I have time in the future. Sorry.
