Hey there guys. This guides just gonna show you how to play ascend again. Sure it was only in beta when it closed down, but still, some ncie nostalgia never hurt anyone, and you can play the beta all the way through (almost entirely) bug free with this new revival project. So, ye.

Step 1. Download the Game files
Easy peasy here. Just copy+paste this into your web browser, and the game will install on steam.

steam://install/233630/
Step 2. Join the discord
Now that your game is downloaded, youll need to join the ascender discord server, which can be found at https://discord.gg/zGC3wNU

From here, youll download the server emulator from the #install channel in the server. Youll simply run the exe, it will install the required files, and then launch ascend for you. Enjoy!
Step 3. The project is unfortunately not being updated anymore
Permanull has seemingly permanently abandoned this project, so the project as is, will be as updated as it gets. But hey, if you run through all this games content and want more fun stuff to play, I highly recommend you check out the game "Cruelty Squad" on steam! I highly recommend it. This game is finally being rereleased back onto steam by the devs!!! I hope this game blows up again like it did before

"ascend was not found to be installed, launching steam to install..." except I did download and I tried moving it to a different library through Steam but that didn't work either. That's the advice their resources suggested on the Discord

Hat's off to you Obby -- this still works as of 3/12/2021. What an Epic game. Just download the Zip file and it works flawlessly! For anyone reading this -- make sure your anti-virus program isn't hindering the download (cause it did mine); save the zip file to your desktop; extract the data to a folder; and run that sucker -- works fine! I hadn't played it in a year and it works great!
