It stands for On Post Templates Created. It's a mod that runs a little script after the game loads in all its weapons, enemies, and stuff.

In this case, it'd be a little script that runs after the Muton Infector generates that replaces the line of text pointing to the vanilla ABA skin to point towards yours. The ABA reskinner is just a large number of these. The Enemy Reskinner Redux is the same, but you can define the skins yourself.

Pretty much no performance hit.

For now, I'll just focus on redoing the infector skin. I agree with the prime being purple, but still think it should use a psionic repeater. It's just a recolor of the original weapon, plus it's underused, as the codex could've used it, but just uses a regular rifle.

You can take a look at the extra skins from A Harder War . For inspYou can see them in the last screenshots of this mod . Personally I find them a bit too colorful, and for a Prime-tier muton I still prefer the Muton Elite's menacing black and purplish glow.

@Lago: OPTC mod? So just a mod that only has the assets, or...?
@MrMister: I'll look into it; this should be super quick and easy to do. I was kinda thinking to make the muton designs tiered: regular mutons would use skin textures, advanced units would use the tech suit, elite units would use the helms/masks. Most of the work is already done, I'd just have to create textures that show some skin.

My intent was to upload the new Muton as a standalone OPTC mod. That's better for performance (I'm not loading a .upk into games that aren't using the skin) and avoids resetting the configs of everyone using the ABA Reskinner.

If you really want to eliminate as many mods from your load order as possible, the best way to do that is to use the Enemy Reskinner Redux and copy all the relevant packages into its content folder.

This could work as a Muton Commando skin, yes - I think I'd like it better than the red centurion. But it would need to have its hands desinfected.

I really think that the unit shouldn't be a separate mod, think I'd be better included in Enemy Reskinner. As for the coloring... I'll probably recolor it to make it look more noxious, but this really looks good. Perhaps as an advanced version of the regular muton for endgame?

Muton - Muton Elite (or Centurion) being green
Muton Pyro being red
Muton Infector toxic neon
Muton Prime being purple

If you set WSR and Enemy Reskinner as dependencies, you could probably release that little Muton overhaul as a mod if you wanted to.

You'll also want to grab the LWMutonM3Rifle.upk from the Long War Alien Pack or the WotC Muton Elite mod.

@José While a psi-purple rifle would fit the elite skin's palette more color-wise, I'd rather the weapon not be purple if there is no actual psi stuff involved. Rather, I might try and give it the actual Muton Elite's Rifle skin.

I agree in that while your infector skin looks really cool in-game, maybe it doesn't get the infecor vibe across well enough. The colouring on its fingers is perfect though. Maybe change the "fabric" portions (biceps and neck) from very dark green to the yellow? It would also combine very well if you did the same to the original centuron skin, changing the white to a dark, not-very-saturated orange.

Agreed on changing its rifle's plasma color too - I just don't know how to.
