No, the old version doesn't have better graphics. The image is actually very sharp, however the game's base resolution is super low and you would normally want to scale it up. Unfortunately that's where the problem occurs; if you do choose to scale the image in-game, even if it's just x2, there's some sort of a smoothing effect that will severely blur the image.
I hate it too, but apparently many people prefer it this way. When you see people playing SNES games on emulators, a lot of them will choose a blur filter voluntarily.

Does the old version have better graphics? I just got the game and its a bit blurry where as those gifs you displayed have a clearer image.

The version of Eroico that is on Steam is the updated one with improved animations. The first animation shown here is from the old version of the game.
Only the vampire girl has multiple animations.

No, that's not right... I only ever get one animation for all of them. The finisher and the main attack are the same.. I get hit and knocked down, I get the basic animation.. I'm on my last hit and get downed, and it's the same animation..?
