Introduction
In this guide you will find information about the starting and winning conditions and what will happen during the scenario. I won't cover how to complete every optional objective as they are not necessary for winning the respective scenario - but I will list them so you know what to expect. If no optional objectives are listed, there aren't any important ones. This guide is written for winning on Easy so if you want to play on a higher difficulty, you must tweak the strategies a bit (e.g. building more castles or change who you attack first).

As I said in the description of the guide, I will tell you what happens during the battle and give tips for handling any upcoming situation. I describe the historical battle in chronological order but you'll see which ones have an additional achievement linked to them. If you have any questions just ask in the comments and I'll try to help!
I apologise in advance if this guide isn't written in perfect English. It's not my native language, but I did my best to do it correctly :)

If you want to obtain all the other achievements, check out this awesome guide:

There will also be a guide from me for all the campaign mission in a few days that I'll link here as soon as it is online.
Bukhara (557)
General information on the battle
In this battle you start off with three villagers, three Knights and a Light Cavalry and can have up to 150 population. You don't have a town center but you'll obtain one as soon as you leave your starting position. Your main goal will be to defeat the White Huns (Green) as well as the Gokturks (Purple) - with the last being a surprise for anyone not knowing this scenario as the tips of the game suggest to form an alliance with them.

At first you'll have an alliance with the White Huns (Green) but they'll demand gold every five minutes. They want 400, 600 and finally 1000 gold in order to stay as an ally. If you don't pay them or an additional five minutes passes after paying 1000 gold they will turn hostile to you. As soon as this happens you can form an alliance with the Gokturks by sending any unit to their castle. You can then ask them for help on attacking the enemy - he won't have much units but he'll have some Triboks ready to attack the White Huns (Green). But be aware that the Gokturks will betray you and turn hostile as soon as you destroy some castles of the Huns (Green). You then need to destroy them as well and they'll attack your base with much more units than they had before. After reaching Imperial Age some elephants will spawn on the west edge of the map. They'll be of great help in the battles. Khosrau will be with them, but it doesn't matter if he dies or not.

The optional goals
  • Protect the Persian villagers (Orange). (You should do this as they pay you tributes from time to time.)
  • Pay gold to the White Huns (Green).
  • Send a messenger to the Gokturks to form an alliance.
  • Send 5 villagers to the Fire Temple. (Only after finding their temple in the middle of the map on a hill.)
  • Train 15 Savars by paying 1500 gold to the Khorasan (Blue). (Only after finding their camp to the east of the river.)

How to win this mission
As soon as you start the battle head down the hill, and build your town center. You should pay the Huns (Green) as long as you can to prevent being attacked by more than one enemy (the Raiders (Turquoise) will already attack frequently). You'll want to build as fast as possible, and protect the Persian ally (Orange) right next to you so you can trade with them. I don't recommend trading with the Khorasan (Blue) in the northeast as the road will be under attack when the Huns (Green) turn hostile. I suggest building walls and towers as soon as possible. One wall at the crossing of the river to the south, and another one at the crossing to the east of the orange market. A third wall should be build to the northeast of the orange town center (on the way to the Gokturks) in order to protect your ally from any further attacks. Your walls should be protected with several towers so that attacking units will get destroyed immediately. It's also important to destroy the buildings of the Hun Raiders (Turquoise) that are on your side of the river as well as their second camp to the east. You can't defeat the Raiders because some of their buildings are within the walls of the Huns (Green), but after destroying their two camps, the Raiders and Huns can only attack from the same direction. After all this is done, you'll be safe from any attacks and should concentrate on building your army.

When your army is ready go for the Gokturks (Purple) first as you'll want to avoid fighting on two fronts. After destroying them you can move on to the Huns (Green). I recommend destroying their base in the south first and then going for their main base. Remember to reproduce units as you should push forward all the time from this point on.
Dos Pilas (648)
General information on the battle
You’ll start with some Eagle Warriors and Plumed Archers, and will obtain your village soon after the scenario starts. In order to win you need to destroy the wonder of your enemy.

The biggest advice I can give you is to not build any military unit until you had to choose a faction to side with – if you want to build an army straight away, send them somewhere safe outside of your village to avoid having them killed. You’ll get attacked by a big group of enemies at some point, and won’t have enough units to defend yourself. They will kill all your units and destroy the towers on the western gate. As soon as they reach your town center you have to make a decision: Staying loyal to Tikal (Orange) or defecting to Calakmul (Purple). If you stay loyal to Tikal, you’ll lose your village, and will need to flee to Uaxactun (Blue) where you have to start from scratch. Your first village will turn hostile against you. If you defect to Calakmul, you keep your village, but Tikal (Orange), Uaxactun (Blue) and Naranjo (Red) will turn hostile towards you. I recommend defecting to Calakmul (Purple) as they are the most dangerous enemy, and because you can keep your first village.

The optional goals
  • Destroy 5 Raider camps.
  • Help the village in the west by destroying the Raiders there.
  • Defend Naranjo (Red). (Only if siding with Tikal.)
  • Destroy the Tikal (Orange) castle. (Only if siding with Calakmul.)

How to win this mission
At the start of the battle you must flee to the south immediately until you reach Dos Pilas. Your villagers should start collecting resources right away, but you should decide who you’ll join straight away as the preparations differ.

Staying loyal to Tikal
If you want to stay loyal to Tikal (Orange), there isn’t much you can do in the beginning as you’ll lose all your units as soon as Dos Pilas (Yellow) is taken over by the enemy – all your resources will be gone as well. When you reach Uaxactun (Blue) they will retreat, and you’ll obtain some new resources so you can start building your village again. Build more towers and replace already existing towers as they won’t level up if you research better towers. You will be under attack from Calakmul (Purple), and sometimes also from Dos Pilas (Yellow). Your first goal should be to defeat Dos Pilas (Yellow) and the Raiders (Green). The latter will take over the castle to the south of Uaxactun (Blue), and start patrolling the area so you need to be careful if your villagers are working outside.
As soon as Naranjo (Red) is attacked by Calakmul (Purple) you should defend them. If you don’t, then Naranjo (Red) will defect to them and turn hostile towards you. If you successfully defend them, they will start building a big army which can be a huge help when fighting Calakmul (Purple). You should also build a big army with some siege weapons to take down their walls. The western gates of the city don’t have as much towers near them as the eastern or centre gates so you should attack there. You can also ask Naranjo (Red) for help as soon as you attack so Calakmul (Purple) has to defend on two fronts.

Defecting to Calakmul
If you want to defect to Calakmul (Purple), send your existing military units to the south of your village so they’ll be safe when Calakmul (Purple) invades your village. Start collecting resources and build three more towers at your eastern gate – the already existing tower there should be replaced as it won’t level up if you research better towers. Don’t build towers on the western gate as they would be destroyed during the invasion. After defecting to Calakmul (Purple) you should build a new gate in the western wall and close down your eastern gate as, from now on, you’ll only get attacked from that direction and your trade carts and units should only use the western gate. You can also have several archers behind the eastern gate to help killing incoming enemies. It is advisable that you defeat the Raiders (Green) and free the village to the east as they will give you tributes from time to time.
As soon as you have a decent army, your first enemy should be Uaxactun (Blue) until they resign. Next you should destroy the castle to the south of Uaxactun (Blue). After dealing with that as well your next goal is defeating Naranjo (Red) so you can attack Tikal (Orange) from the west where there’s less guarding. You should use siege weapons such as triboks when attacking Tikal (Orange) so you can take down the wonder fast.
Tours (732)
General information on the battle
In this battle you need to be quick, but that shouldn’t pose a problem. You start with a big city, a population limit of 75, and seven villagers. In the east there are also several Throwing Axeman, Knights and Charles Martel who you should all bring to your city immediately. You need to capture trading carts that are located inside the enemy’s base to the south. If the trading carts are destroyed, you’ll instead need to defeat both enemies – but that should be done anyway.

How to win this mission
March to your city with your army, while gathering resources with your villagers. One villager should build more towers near the castle, but still inside the walls, so that all enemies coming too close get killed immediately, but can't destroy your towers. As soon as your army reaches your city, all of them, except for Charles Martel, can attack the enemies which destroy your fields. Once they are dealt with, your villagers can use the fields, but only use the ones in the west. The enemies will keep attacking the castle, so if a villager is near the castle, he will get attacked too. Your lumberjacks, however, can work to the west of your city from the beginning without being attacked.

Immediately start building an army and attack the Berbers (Yellow) in the southwest as soon as possible when they are still weak. When they are defeated, you can move on to the Moors (Green) in the south and crash them as they also are still weak. All you have to do afterwards is bringing the trading cards to your cathedral.
York (865)
General information on the battle
In this battle you play as the Vikings, and can use their deadly Longboats. You start with three of them as well as Transport Ships with villagers and some military units. You can land on several island but I recommend going for the Isle of Man where the cathedral is (in the middle of the map). The reason is that you’ll obtain a free castle only there and there are only a few enemies on this small island. However, you need to manually manoeuvre your ships there as they would be destroyed by towers otherwise. As soon as you landed on the island and built the castle, a countdown will start and you’ll obtain 40 Longboats as soon as it hits zero. They should also sail to your island, but you can destroy every tower on the way this time.
You can fulfil one of four objectives to win the game: defeating enemies, capturing relics, accumulating gold, or building a wonder where the palace in York (Yellow) is. Personally, I went for accumulating gold as it was the easiest to achieve. You’ll gain gold for destroying certain enemy buildings. You should pick up every relic you find as it will grant you with even more gold over time.

You will be attacked by ships from time to time, but if you have Longboats next to your harbours as well as towers to protect yourself they won’t be a problem. The Longboats have a huge range if they are upgraded completely and can easily take down towers and other ships if you use them in groups.

How to win this mission
Start by deciding where you want to land. If you decide to use the Isle of Man, build the castle to start the countdown. Otherwise build a town center to start the countdown. Start gathering resources, and try to reach the next age as soon as possible so you can build new Longboats. Build two or three harbours next to each other, and protect them with towers. When your main army of Longboats has reached your island, you can use them to attack the Southern Irish Kingdom (Grey) to the west. Destroy their small outpost with your ships, and take your land units to that island to deal with the rest of the outpost. If all towers of the outpost are gone, you can take some villagers to the island and start building military buildings to build an army. Defeat the Southern Irish Kingdom (Grey), and then move on to the Northern Irish Kingdom (Purple). You can use this huge island as a new main base as soon as both of them are defeated.

When they are gone, you can sail over to the other big island and defeat the Britons, Scots, and Wales (Green). After that you could build an additional base on this island. Depending on which way you want to win you can now proceed to attack York (Yellow) to build a wonder, or attack Mercia (Red) and Wessex (Turquoise) to keep defeating enemies.
Honfoglalás (895)
General information on the battle
In my opinion, Honfoglalás is one of the most difficult historical battles there are. You start off with a nomadic population, but you can also build a town center which results in losing the nomadic advantages and disadvantages. As long as you are nomadic you obtain food by having up to 20 sheep in their respective enclosure, and loot resources if you raze hostile buildings. Also, you can have up to 100 people without houses - with a town center your population limit raises to 150, but you'll need houses. You'll also gain villagers by destroying hostile town centers, but this still applies if you build a town center.
You can only advance to the next ages if you destroy the Avaras (Orange) and then one additional enemy. If you're nomadic you will automatically advance to the next age. If you built a town center, you still need to defeat the enemies, but you need to progress in the town center afterwards.

At first, Bulgaria (Green) is friendly towards you, and you should keep it that way. You can trade with them to amass gold, and should therefore not take up the offer from the Byzantine (Blue). It’s important that no villager of yours comes too close to Bulgaria (Green) as that would result in them going hostile. Military units and trading carts are fine, but as soon as a villager comes near one of their buildings they won’t like you anymore.

The optional goals
  • Declare war to Bulgaria (Green) and destroy their castles for gold. (Trading with them is more efficient in the long run.)

How to win this mission
Use three or four light cavalry to look for more sheep which you need to lead to their enclosure. Build a harbour to get fishing boats, and also build a marketplace to trade with Bulgaria (Green). Gather wood and – very important – stone to setup walls around your initial starting position. Be aware that you need to build a wall in every spot the enemy could come through, e.g. at the river crossings or the mountains to the norht. Build some towers at your western walls (on the way to both enemies) as well. You should put up a town center as soon as you can to produce your own villagers. Meanwhile get some more light cavalry and archers. You’ll get attacked frequently, but your towers should deal enough damage – just repair them sometimes. If need be, also build one or two castles along your walls.

You won’t be able to get to the next age until you have defeated the Avars (Orange). So head on and destroy their town center and units. Afterwards you can advance to the next age in your town center. Your next enemy will be Great Moravia (Yellow). Attack them and destroy their town centers and units. Ignore all of their towers and castles; just go for the town centers and units! They’ll resign after destroying all three of their centers and killing most of their units. Afterwards you can build a strong army and crush East Francia (Red).
Vinlandsaga (1000) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
The resources on your starting island are very limited, and you have three enemies of different difficulties. Your leader, Erik the Red, must survive and be transported to the west island. There you need to build a town center, a market, and 12 houses. The British (Blue) aren't much of a problem, they only have a few archers. The Skraelings (Purple) live on the island you need to occupy, and they have a bunch of strong fighters so bring a big army with you. Your biggest problem, however, will be the Vikings (Green) who will attack you with Longboats frequently. Also there is a Sea of Worms in the middle of the ocean which will destroy your ships if getting too close so you need to cross Greenland and build a new harbour on the western side of that island.

In order to obtain the achievement in this battle just do the following:
When reaching Greenland (the northern island where the Vikings (Green) live), move to the northeast of it. There's a small clump of trees with a few stones right next to it. Once you find him, he will become one of your units and you'll obtain the achievement.

Description
Eternal Gratitude
Encounter a Penguin in the Historical Battle "Vinlandsaga".

How to win this mission
Begin by building your economy, and build some towers near the shore to defend yourself against the Vikings (Green). When you have built up a small army, head over to the British (Blue) to the south of your island, and destroy their base. If you destroy their markets, you'll obtain gold - trading with them won't net you much gold. Upgrade your ships and sail to the northeastern tip of Greenland. Start building a castle (buy more stone in the market if you need to), and build military buildings afterwards. Destroy their towers along the shore, before attacking the center of Greenland. Use the gold mines to gather gold and upgrade more stuff.

Finally, head over to the New World with a huge army and kill all enemy forces. After you're done with them, you can build a town center, before building a market as well as 12 houses. If you have enough stone, you could also build a castle to defend yourself even better against the Skraelings (Red).
Hastings (1066)
General information on the battle
In this battle you accompany William the Conqueror, who must survive the whole battle, on his way of conquering England. To do that you need to destroy the castle of Harold the Saxon (Orange). You can have up to 125 people which isn't much.

The enemies all start hostile towards you, but the Vikings (Turquoise) will offer to ally with you which you should accept. They'll get defeated soon afterwards, but you'll obtain their remaining units.

The optional goals
  • Send Transports to the north to pick up Harald Hardraade's Viking Berserks.

How to win this mission
Gather resources, and start creating a small army as soon as possible. Harold's Raiders (Yellow) are also on your island and should be taken care of so they won't attack your villagers. When the Vikings (Turquoise) offer you an alliance, take it. You should then hurry up to get transport ships and sail your newly aquird vikings to your own island before they get killed by the Saxon Navy (Red). Build up a navy as well as the Saxon Navy (Red) will attack several times. You can also use your navy to defend your transport ships when sailing to the western island.

Once you have a decent navy, use them to destroy the docks of the Saxon Navy (one is found in the south, two more at the northwestern part of the western island). Afterwards you can sail all your ground forces to the southeastern tip of the western island. Bring one or two villagers along to build a castle. You should use Throwing Axemen and Hardraade's Berserks together with siege weapon against Harold the Saxon (Orange) to better deal with his units (cavalry and archers are pretty vulnerable against his forces).
Manzikert (1071)
General information on the battle
Your population is maxed at 100 and you don't have villagers of your own so you can't build more units. You start with several cavalry units as well as two trebuchets. You obtain resources to build new units if you station one unit at the town centers of Cappadocia (Red), Galatia (Yellow) and Pisidia (Green). Be aware that you should only get near the town center, without destroying something, as you'll conquer the villages afterwards. Your main goal is to defeat the Byzantine Army (Blue). The Saracens (Turquoise) don't pose much of threat but there's an optional objective linked to them.

The optional goals
  • Conquer Cappadocia (Red) and obtain tributes from them.
  • Conquer Galatia (Yellow) and obtain tributes from them.
  • Conquer Pisidia (Green) and obtain tributes from them.
  • Destroy the 4 Saracen towers so that your allies can mine their gold.

How to win this mission
Your first goal is to capture Pisidia (Green) as they don't have any walls. Send one light cavalry to it's town center, and don't waste time fighting their units. Afterwards you should head for the Saracens (Turquoise) in the west and destroy their towers. This way Pisidia will mine the gold mines. Conquer the remaining two cities the same as before, but you need to destroy walls this time. As soon as a wall is down, send a cavalry to the town center.

You'll advance to Imperial Age after conquering all three towns. Build an army and attack the Byzantine Army (Blue) when you are ready. Kill most of his villagers and destroy their town center as well as their market when you're inside their town.
Kurikara (1183) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
It's time to conquer Kyoto! You have a population limit of 200 so you can build a strong army - which will be needed. Minamoto must survive, and Yoshinaka's palace must not be destroyed. You start with some soldiers and a trading cart, and at least one soldier and the cart must reach the blue flag. Afterwards you need to defeat the Taira Warlords (Red), the Taira Guards (Green) and the Taira Army (Orange) as well as destroy every military building in Kyoto (Turquoise).

You have some allies, but they aren't really allies. In order to get an alliance with the Hojo Clan (Yellow) you need to give him two trebuchets. The trade could be worth it as the Clan has a strong army which'll help greatly - but if you want to get the achievement in this battle, you can't form an alliance with them. Yoshinaka, on the other hand, will reatreat as soon as you reach their town. The Locals don't have a camp but they'll give you tributes from time to time.
On the northern part of the river are rocks where your ships will sink until you conquer the lighthouse near the northern shore.

Description
Lone Warrior
Win the Historical Battle "Kurikara (1183)" without forming an alliance with the Hojo clan.

The optional goals
  • Bring carts arriving from Kamakura to your palace in Kurikara to receive 1000 gold per cart.
  • Kill Taira no Kiyofusa and his personal guard and capture the lighthouse (monument) so your ships can sail through the rocks unscathed.
  • Bring one military unit to the Hojo palace to negotiate an alliance.
  • Bring two trebuchets to Hojo Tokimasa's palace to earn his alliance.

How to win this mission
Soon after starting the mission, you'll meet some enemies. After defeating them, head directly to the town, avoiding any more fights. You'll gain control over the city and are given some ressources. One advantage of the Japanese is that their fishing boats work faster so you should use some of them. You need to defeat five Warlods; four of them are in camps of the Army (Orange) and one is near the lighthouse in the north. Until you reach Imperial Age, and have enough resources to build a strong army, you should focus on defending. As you reach Imperial Age you can create trebuchets which will make it far easier to destroy the camps. Attack the camp near your base, and head to the lighthouse afterwards. You can also build a navy and use them to attack all camps once you conquered the lighthouse.

When the Warlords (Red) and Army (Orange) are defeated you can move on to Kyoto. They have four castles and several military buildings which all need to be destroyed. Use your trebuchets and destroy the buildings with your army to win this battle.
Cyprus (1191)
General information on the battle
You accompany Richard the Lionheart, who must survive this whole battle. You start with some ships which were seperated from their remaining units by a storm. You can have up to 125 people, and you can find several units across the ocean.

You can conquer Limassol (Turquoise) by destroying their castle, and you should do that without destroying too much other buildings. Afterwards you can build your economy, and concentrate on the other three enemies which are allied with one another.

The optional goals
  • Conquer Limassol (Turquoise) by destroying their castle.
  • Look for ship wrecked soldiers and ships.
  • Destroy the docks of Nicosia (Purple) to obtain gold.

How to win this mission
Start by sailing to the northwest to find two more ships. If you follow the edge to the northwest you'll stumble across a small island where some ground forces are waiting to get picked up by the transport ships right next to them. You need to be careful around that island as there are some enemy ships partolling - don't sail to the northwest from there, otherwise you'll sail into the docks of Nicosia (Purple). Instead go to the northeast to find more military units (they are on the island of the enemies). Af the southern edge of the map to find two more ships. Then sail a bit to the northeast until you come across a shore where more ground forces are waiting (again, they are on the enemies' island). Unload all your units here as you'll attack from here. Afterwards sail to the northeast at the edge of the map to find some enemy ships before finding two more of yours. At the eastern edge of the map you can find more ground forces on the enemies' island. Once you've found everyone, the optional objective will be finished.

Let the ground forces on the eastern edge as well as the one to your west stay where they are for now. Use your main force and move towards your units on the shore to the west. Kill the enemies on the way and pick up the units waiting for you. Move a bit to the north and then east towards Limassol (Turquoise) to use your trebuchet to destroy their castle (without having to destroy the walls) - try not to kill too many turquoise units as you'll obtain them after destroying the castle. Once you've conquered the city you can move your eastern units to the city. You should build more towers to defend yourself against Nicosia (Purple). You can build a new fleet and destroy the docks of Nicosia (Purple) in the western part of the map to obtain gold, and to prevent them from continuing to attack with ships.

Once you have enough resources you can build a strong army, including several siege weapons, and attack Nicosia (Purple) to win the battle. They have two castles, a whole bunch of towers, and a lot of military buildings.
Bapheus (1302) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
You start with some cavalry and archers, and can have up to 175 people. Osman, your leader, must survive. At first, you need to reach your home. Afterwards you'll be granted six villagers and some houses. However, this village is in a really bad spot (in the middle of the map) so you should move somewhere else to build a new village immediately.

Soon after starting the battle you can choose who to ally with, however, if you want to obtain the achievement, you can't form an alliance with any of the Turkish factions. Your main goal will be to defeat the Byzantine Empire (Blue). If you want to obtain the achievement, you'll need to defeat every Turkish faction before defeating the Byzantine Empire (Blue). The Catalan Company (Orange) will help the Empire at some point, but they only have a few soldiers and will resign after you defeated those soldiers.
You have one ally, the Rum Sultanate (Purple), but they won't aid you in fights and they're also allied with every other faction. You'll get reinforcements frequently inside the Rum Sultanate, however.

Description
Turkish Delight
Win the Historical Battle "Bapheus (1302)" by defeating all other Turkish
factions without forming an alliance with any of them.

How to win this mission
Move towards your home, and obtain your villagers before deciding where to build your village. My recommendation is moving to the eastern or southern edge of the map, building a base behind Candar (Turquoise) or Germiyan (Yellow). Don't build inside the Rum Sultanate (Red) as enemies can just walk into the town. Build walls and towers once you have enough stone and protect your villagers from attacks.

Build a small army and attack the enemy that's near your base (Candar (Turquoise) or Germiyan (Yellow) if you followed my advise) to defeat them. Remember to defeat all three Turkish factions before attacking the Byzantine Empire (Blue). If all three are defeated, you'll need a big army and some siege weapons to take down the Empire as they have several outposts, walls and castles. The Catalan Company (Orange) is residing inside the northern town of the empire, but they won't pose much of a problem. As soon as you attack any city of the Byzantine Empire (Blue) the Company will send troops to attack you. Once you kill these units, the Company will get defeated.
Lake Poyang (1363) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
This is one tought battle. You need to clear a blockage, secure the sea and escort ships. After escorting the first ship, you'll gain your main base. There'll spawn four more ships after the first one, which appear at intervals of 15 minutes, and none of them must be destroyed. After the fourth ship reached it's destination, you have to build a monument and protect it to win the mission.

You have two allies: Nanchang where your main base will be, and the Chinese Peasants who will provide you with one dragon ship per 100 gold after finding their village in the north of the map. In order to obtain the achievement, you need to pay them 2000 gold. If you find their base in the west, you'll gain control over that base. Additionally, their colony to the east of your base will turn over to your control once you defeat some ships of the Han Navy (Orange).
The Pirates in the northeast of the map will attack the player at first, but they'll offer you an alliance for 2000 gold - which you should do.
Your main enemies, however, will be Admiral Chen (Red), the Han Army (Grey) and the Han Navy (Orange). Admiral Chen (Red) has several docks that are heavily guarded, making it difficult to destroy them. The docks of the Han Navy (Orange) isn't guarded as much so you should first focus on them. The Han Army (Purple) are the ones who will attack you on land with cavalry and siege weapons. Once you start building a wonder every enemy will attack.

Description
Smoke on the Water
Purchase 20 Dragon Ships in the Historical Battle "Lake Poyang (1363)".

The optional goals
  • Pay gold to the Chinese Peasants (Turquoise) to obtain Dragon Ships.

How to win this mission
At the start, you have to attack the ships that are blocking the waterway directly in front of you. Meanwhile sail your transport ships directly to the south. Unload the villagers and start gathering gold and wood. Load the trebuchet you found as well as the soldiers onto your ship and sail to the fields north of your lumber camp to gain the control over the Peasant colony. Unload your military units there, and use the trebuchet to destroy the towers. Once a tower is destroyed, use your soldiers to kill off the scattered enemy troops.
Meanwhile you can build a market, and a monastery to build 3 monks - use them to convert as much enemy ships as possible. Research Block Printing, and Illumination. Build a university to research Chemistry, and build a dock to create Cannon Galleons, and to upgrade your ships. You could also use fishing ships to obtain more food.
There are also some small groups of ships in the middle of the map that you need to destroy in order to secure the incoming ship you need to escort. If you reach Nanchang (Yellow) with your ships, the counter for the first ship will set to zero and it will spawn, so be careful. The first ship will spawn where you started.

At some point, your small colony in the west will get attacked, so transport all your units from there to Nanchang (Yellow), or protect it from attacks. You need to secure Nanchang to the southeast as the Han Army (Grey) will attack frequently, so build more walls and towers. On the western part of your city is a wall missing, so build it and secure it with towers. Your harbour should be protected with even more towers, especially cannon towers once you researched them. Build a fleet to constantly control the water. Destroy the enemies' docks and towers, but beware that Admiral Chen (Red) has some towers with huge range that even a trebuchet is in their range.
When the Pirates (Green) offer you an alliance, pay them 2000 gold so they distract the enemy constantly. The second ship will spawn north of the pirate base and one of Admiral Chen's (Red) outposts. At the latest when the second ship has arrived, you should sail north to find the Chinese Peasants (Turquoise) and get their boats by paying them. The third ship spawns on the northwest edge behind the peninsula. The fourth ship appears east of the pirate base, and the fifth directly in front of the base of the Han Army (Grey) to the southwest of your main base.

After the fifth ship has arrived, you need to build the monument in the center of Nanchang (Yellow). Use as many villagers as you can to build it as quickly as possible. Have your army ready to defend your city whilst building it - every enemy will attack you at this point. They'll use transport ships and a whole bunch of ships attacking your towers. After building the monument, the victory is yours.
Agincourt (1415)
General information on the battle
Help Henry V to invade France, after he failed to do it alone! He must survive the whole battle. You start with several units, and you can't build any new ones. But you have monks with you, so you can convert them to join your army, so you should protect the monks at all costs.

You've got five enemies from the start: Amiens (Cyan), Voyeni (Green), French Knights (Blue), Harfleur (Purple) and Frevent (Yellow). Your goal is to acquire a transport ship in the north and sail Henry V back to England. This means that you can avoid fighting the enemies if you want to. However, at some points you need to fight - use your monks to heal your troops afterwards.

The optional goals
  • Destroy the University in Voyeni (Green) to recover and learn from the great texts stored there.
  • Destroy the Blacksmith in Amiens (Cyan) to recover armor and weapons.
  • Break through the enclosure around the French Knights' trebuchet and capture it for the English.

How to win this mission
You start near Harfleur (Purple) and Amiens (Cyan), so retreat quickly and move to the northeast. Head to Voyeni (Green). Break through their gate, destroy the university and cross the bridge. If you want, you can head to Frevent (Yellow) to your right, and convert some troops and villagers there (the latter can only be used to repair the rams). Head south, past Frevent, to invade Amiens and destroy their blacksmith.

Afterwards head north where you'll meet French Knights you have to fight. Don't attack the trebuchet you come across soon. Instead, destroy the palisade walls and get near it to acquire it. Follow the path to the north, and destroy the towers and the castle with your siege weapons. If they're all down, you can go to the docks, capture the transport ship and sail Henry V home.
Lepanto (1571) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
You start off with several ships, including a transport ship that's holding some villagers. Your population limit is 100, which can be quite tough in this battle. You need to build and defend a wonder - the foundation of the wonder is already placed near the shore. In order to obtain the achievement, you'll need several ships and should use towers to destroy any transport ship that's coming close to your shore. If any transport ship lands on your shore, you won't obtain the achievement. They will try to land on different spots, starting in the north part of your island and moving to the south/east each time. Using "spies" from the castle can be a big help.

You only have one enemy, the Turks (Purple). They live on the eastern island, but will send ships frequently. To the southwest of your base is a neutral faction, which will offer an alliance after some time - doing so will grant you tributes from time to time. In the middle of the sea are islands that have gold and stone on them. You can use them, but you need to protect them from turkish ships.

Description
Battleship
Win the Historical Battle "Lepanto (1571)" without allowing any Turkish
Transport Ship to unload on your shores.

The optional goals
  • Tribute the Greeks (Green) 800 gold so they will ally with you.

How to win this mission
You shouldn't build the wonder straight away. Instead, build a good economy with a fleet strong enough to destroy enemy ships quickly. If you want to obtain the achievement, you won't need any ground forces as none of the Turkish transport ships are allowed to land on your shore. You could try using your ships to attack the turkish docks and prevent them from sending any further ships - but it will be difficullt, because they have several cannon towers and castles along their shore. But once you find their docks, you also find all transport ships they have left, so you can just destroy them. Stay where their docks were, as they will only try to build new ones there. Also, beware that there will spawn new transport ships out of nowhere, but they'll always be in the same spot the docks were.

Once you destroyed their docks, you can start building the wonder without needing to worry about the enemy attacking it.
Kyoto (1582)
General information on the battle
Lord Nobunaga has been captured and will be killed, and you need to avenge him by destroying the enemies' castles! Your attempt in rescuing Nobunaga will fail, no matter what. Your population limit is 125, and you start with some ground forces and two fire ships (after Nobunaga's death). With these units you can take over Osaka piece by piece - don't destroy any building as you will conquer all of them.

Besides Osaka (Red), who will resign after you've taken over the complete city, your enemies are Kyoto (Green) and Hyogo (Blue). You can defeat Hyogo pretty quickly as they are not well guarded. It's not necessary, but it will stop them from sending any more troops. Kyoto (Green) has a way to make you lose: If they gather all five relics on the map (which are all on their island), you'll lose. If you destroy their ports, they won't rebuild them so they won't be able to attack you anymore.

How to win this mission
You can't do anything when the battle start, so just wait until your new units are unloaded near Osaka. You'll obtain bombard cannons after killing the first enemies, and they are a great help in conquering Osaka. Move your units near the town center to take over the next piece of city. Afterwards you need to kill the remaining enemies in the city to obtain the last two city fragments. Once it's completly yours, build at least one monk. Ship him over to gather one relic to prevent Kyoto (Green) from winning with them. If they manage to gather all relics, you won't lose instantly, but instead you have 300 years to destroy their monastery (which will be shown on map). Head back to your city, and start building your economy.

Build a strong fleet to destroy Kyoto's docks as well as their ships. You can use cannon galleons in this battle so you should make use of them. Two castles are near the water so you can destroy them with these ships. The last castle, however, must be attacked with ground forces. Bring siege weapons with you, so you can take it down quickly.
Noryang Point (1598) [+achievement]
General information on the battle
In this battle, you must defend yourself from a japanese invasion. You can't use some of the korean units at first, but that will change during the course of the battle. You start with an already built wonder, and if you want to obtain the achievement, you must protect it. The Japanese Navy (Yellow) will attack it soon after starting the battle, so use your ships to head over there. Your main goal will be to destroy all docks of the Japanese Navy (Yellow).

Neither the Japanese Navy (Yellow) nor the Japanese Raiders (Purple) have villagers, so they can't gather any resources - and as such, won't produce unlimited new ships. The Raiders won't attack you until they spot you, and are residing at the northern tip of the map.
Admiral Yi (Green) resides at the northwestern part of the map, and needs to be found at some point. He'll give you three castles and some turtle ships. The Chinese (Orange) on the other hand live on a small peninsula at the southwestern part of the map. If you bring the turtle ships to their base, you'll gain all 20 units they posess. You should have your transport ships ready, however, as they are on a small island where they won't be of much help. Soon after obtaining these units, your docks will be attacked by several ships, so be ready for them.

Description
The Wonder, the Wonder, the...
Oh, Never Mind
Prevent the Korean Wonder from being destroyed in the
"Noryang Point (1598)" mission of the Historical Battles.

The optional goals
  • Prevent the Japanese from destroying Korea's Wonder.

How to win this mission
As soon as the battle start, send all your ships to defend the wonder against the Japanese Navy (Yellow). Meanwhile, you can start building your economy, but you should focus on upgrading your towers and ships first (as with all other pre-built towers, you should replace them so the upgrades will take effect). You could use fisher boats to gather food, as the sea has plenty of fish.
Build a big fleet to counter the attacks of the Japanese Navy (Yellow), but also build some ground forces, because some transport ships might slip through and unload on your shore. Your best bet would be to build more towers that'll destroy every ship and ground force easily.

If no ships are attacking you, you can use your fleet to scout the sea and destroy every ship you come across. This way you'll work towards the last objective, destroying every dock, as you'll find them sooner or later this way.

Great guide! I'm a big fan of historical battles first off! And I really like your guide! I'm curious if you have considered posting your guides on any websites? I ask because I run MGN TV, and I'd like to publish your content (and give you full credit, of course). Hit me up if interested :)
