Ascension - New Victory Condtion

描述
Ever wished that there was a Technological or Cultural Victory condition for Stellaris? Loved to play tall but had to eventually conquer the galaxy as a Celestial Empire? Want an in-universe way to peacefully purge pops and incidentally improve performance? This is the mod for you!

Mod main points:
  • Ascension - The basic premise is that your empire's populace is tired of the material realm and wishes to ascend to a higher plane of existence. What form that takes, and who gets to go, depends on your ethics.
  • Inspirations - The mod tracks your actions based on your governing ethics - (authoritarians promoting the ruling elite and population controls, xenophobes purging pops and focusing on purity, pacifists building tall and staying at peace, spiritualists banning robots and promoting the faith, gestalts focusing on growing and protecting the collective, and so on). Each time you do something according to your ethics, you gain a one-time progress boost towards an ethic specific, high cost technology.
  • Ascension buildings - Upon researching that technology, you gain access to a building to be constructed at your capitol, which also gives you very powerful bonuses. Three additional, non-ethic specific, high cost technologies and buildings are also required for you to...
  • Ascend! Once all 4 buildings are constructed at your capitol, an edict will be enabled that allows you to ascend your population! Most of the time this takes the form of your populace entering a portal and vanishing from existence. (This represents a game over, since for technical reasons the game does not have a triggerable victory screen) Other victory outcomes may appear based on civics or government type.
  • This is enabled for the AI! - The other playable empires will also pursue this victory condition, and will ascend once all the conditions are met. You will get a notification when this occurs.

BETA
This mod is functionally complete, but could use additional endings, inspiration events, story writing, etc. I am releasing it now because everyone is stuck at home and could use a longer playthrough to pass the time. Let me know in the discussion section about things I missed, improvements,bugs etc. and I will try to address your concerns.

Compatibility
No overwritten vanilla files, so should work fine with pretty much anything. NOT Achievements compatible, unfortunately. Should work fine with any combination of DLC. Any mods that modify or add new ethics will not have an ascension path. Relies on tech_ascension_theory as generic technology prerequisite. I would recommend starting a new save when installing this mod.

A few suggestions:

1. When the AI unlocks one of the special Ascension Buildings, don't give them the technology. Give them the Building. I have seen computer players waste one hundred years on researching the dang thing. I am not kidding.

2. As a Spiritualist, when you use Minor Artificats to Discover a Religious Revelation, that should give you the Spiritualist Ascension Building.

That would work for single player. However, in multiplayer there are effects felt by the whole galaxy even after your empire ascends. For example, the authoritarian ascension has the ruling class leave behind all of the workers and slaves, resulting in an empire populated by egalitarians in its place.

If you want to have Ascension trigger a Victory Condition, have it simply "Kill off" all other Empires the idea: Rather than Killing them it represents them not being Present into the Realm you've Ascended to.

2.8 is out, so will be updating soon for the version number. I may also make a future update with some improvements based on new modding features in the patch notes. I will also have a mod out soon that combines this with Honor Leaders - New Mechanic specifically for Star Trek : New Horizons.

The 2.7 patch has been released, and it has a lot of new features for modding that may require a rewrite of some elements of this mod. There will be an update some time after the patch is released, but may take longer than expected.

wait, people actually try to win stellaris? I thought the goal was to just not die by the end.
