Around a week ago, the Autonomous Directorate of Malden Archipelago was seized by an OPFOR putsch, following violent protests both on Malden and Everon and acts of vengeance over alleged bribery and corruption of the assembly representatives and executives together with Danish businessmen in the mainland. Government located in Malden resigned in early September, and early elections were set to March next year, under the supervision of the interim government formed under the recently founded People's Party, with a low to middle class base consisting of winery and lumber industry labourers.

People's Party government started a rapproachment process with People's Republic of Nogova, lying under Polish and East German influence, signing a trade deal that will turn the direction of exports to the East. While the deal included investment guarantees , protection and restoration of law and order, coupled with East German and Polish troops training the local defence forces, it naturally presupposed raised presence of Warsaw Pact military in the strategically located archipelago just lying outside Kattegat strait. Moreover, wine and lumber industries were to be monopolized, igniting several skirmishes between business holders, and pro-government troops, while many started deserting the army. Interim government soon proved to be unable to restore the law and order. A military cadre, self-proclaimed as the People's Army soon over the control in a bloodless coup, with an overall compliance of the chain of command, while the dissenters either deserted, fled or imprisoned.

As tensions escalated quickly between the Directorate and Denmark, the trade deal and its clauses turned the event into an international crisis, while last weeks putsch made a NATO intervention a dire necessity.

Two Task Forces, GEMINI and VALKYRIE were formed in hurry, with troops from United Kingdom, Denmark and West Germany, in order to achieve control in both islands before the putchist troops and people's militia find time to reinforce themselves, and before East German and Polish troops arrive.

A short yet challenging sabotage mission, first one in a series of missions covering Operation GEMINI and VALKYRIE. Missions will be released in pairs. Although it is meant to be played in singleplayer, it can be played in multiplayer too.
