No Klepto Reynauld

Tired of axing your boy Reynaldo just because he was born with sticky fingers? Well, worry no more!

When enabled before loading a new file, this mod makes your starting Crusader Reynauld no longer start with the Kleptomaniac quirk.

IMPORTANT: Be sure to enable this mod with the Enable/View Mods button BEFORE starting your new save file for the first time. After starting your save file for the first time, you can safely disable it. The quirk won't come back.



By default, Reynauld always starts with the negative quirk Kleptomaniac. Kleptomaniac causes him to occasionally "steal" items before you can pick them up, effectively wasting them. This is meant to teach new players about negative quirks, and the effects they can have. To experienced players, though, this is just annoying. Now you can actually use Reynauld instead of dumping him immediately or wasting resources on removing the quirk.

This mod is extremely simple, and only modifies one file (scripts/starting_save/persist.roster.json).

downloaded mod started new game. mods working perfectly. beat tutorial and my reward for reaching the hamlet for the first time was Reynauld developing a negative trait. specifically Kleptomania. i know this is not the mods fault i just found it funny enough to share

It did not work on my new save maybe it conflicts with other mods i don't know :(

You can have runs where Reynauld steals every piece of loot out of the tutorial dungeon, and you can have runs where he steals nothing. You can also just re-roll games until you get the latter. So, this is just a time-saver mod.

Found the reason: Marvins Rooster (and Char-Mod) interferes with it. I disabled everything else and only switched these two between 1st and 2nd spot.
So as annoying as this perk is, Id rather have his mod.

@Korhal The file this mod changes is the game's "starting save", which is a pre-made save that brings you to the tutorial level with the starting characters. That's where the mod conflict would be. (specifically scripts/starting_save/persist.roster.json)

I did, I checked again only using this specific mod and it worked then, so with that being said, it obviously interferes with something else. Not sure, what it could be, as nothing specifically changes the Crusader or any char related quirks.

@Korhal Did you follow the instructions in the description? The mod only works with a fresh save file, and has to be enabled before starting.
