Designed as a cheap semi automatic rifle for the Volkssturm,the MP507 was a gas delayed rifle that really worked more like a pistol.It was extremely crude,built with whatever materials were avaliable (hence the common picture of both wooden parts being different tones),the weapon was relatively inaccurate compared to most rifles of the time,but still relatively useful as a last ditch weapon.About 10000 were built in 1945,and most likely saw combat service

It's still not an assault rifle, it was semi automatic and meant to work more like a carbine. The magazines are true, and Simple History is not a good source, but it's true (and public knowledge).

StG 44 magazines were mainly used for this according to that "Last Ditch Axis Weapons" by Simple History. As of me posting this comment the video is 5 years old (It came out February 25th, 2020.) AKA it was made when Simple History was good.

it's not an assault rifle, it's a misconception from the name. While Sturmgewehr indeed means Assault Rifle in german, this is not the Volks-Sturmgewehr, it's the Volkssturm-Gewehr, as in, "The People's Assault" Rifle. There where 2 automatic guns made, practically speaking none out of the like 20k they made in total
