Description -

A working vanilla monorail system. The world features a roughly 9km track with 4 stations situated around a massive lake. The track also has storage for two trains off the main loop, storage has welders for train gear service and locking mechanisms to keep the trains in place. The switches can be operated via remote connection to the track or from buttons on the storage yards.

The Rail Runner is 100% vanilla train capable of taking 30 degree turns at 11m/s. While slow the train boasts a 40 seat capacity with standing room taking its total to 50. The train is automated to stop at each station, open doors, wait and then continue on. While the train can handle faster speeds, it was tuned with stability in mind.

The trains automation is controlled by two sensors, these can be turned off (via the hotbar) any time to manually drive the train. To re-engage auto mode just switch them back on, throttle up the train and leave the cockpit.

The train is also fitted with artificial mass, making it usable in space or atmosphere. Just add some gravity generators to the track.

Notes -

This was my first train and a lot of fun to build, i plan on doing some tweeks like making the stopping a bit smoother. I might have another go at this in large grid one day, see if i can get more speed. For now im just happy it works, hope you guys enjoy :)

took about 3 or 4 restarts. But it works. I know part of the issue. you have it saved on one side of the lake. But train is on other. I watched it try to run but track had not spawned in yet. So if save it with train next you should be fine.

And how do you keep it stable?? Mine keeps tipping over. But i have to ask.. "we can discuss some where else if wish" but whats best way to build track and wheel section? i saw yours on some turns it hits and shows damage sparks. But doesnt do damage that i have found. Im trying to build a large grid version "and big train lol" and so far turning on track and train car flipping over are main problems. i tried mimic your design but... it flipped lol

uhoh, il have to have a look into that Dragon. It was made before the block hitbox update so thinking thats whats up :)

The limiting factor is the turns themselfs. If the train goes too fast it will wobble a lot, and eventually fall off.

Have figured out a new way to build track now with smooth turns. Its already doubled the speed the train goes with minimal wheel tuning. Stay tuned for a V2 :)

Going to give this a try, but have a few projects I want to work on first. Might incorporate this if I can.

Quick q. What is the limiting factor on train speed and cornering? Doe the track or the train give out first?
