My specs and why I wrote this guide.
Intel i7-6700k
16 gigs of ram
over clocked 1070

In single player this game runs perfectly fine, but in the multiplayer the game runs like trash and does not use many resources. Here is my guide for how to get it running ok.
Installing Java
Make sure you have the latest version of java installed before you continue. You might need to restart your computer after but you should probably keep it up to date to play the game online.

Here is the link to Java
https://java.com/en/download/
Now for the rest.
First in your game library right click on 2d Paintball and click properties.
You want to click on a button that says "Set Launch Options"

Copy and past this in to the box and click ok.
-USEALLAVAILABLECORES

Then on the tabs at the top click on the Local Files Tab and click the button Browse Local Files.

Right click on 2d Paintball.exe and go to properties.
There will be a compatibility tab you will need to go there.
Click the box that says comptibility mode and put it as Windows 8.
Then near the bottom check the box Always run as administrator.

You should be good to go now, hope this helps.

go into control panel and see what the game is using memory wise and network it isn't a lot. Mine was cpu because it did not use anything from my cpu its why I made this guide.

I had really bad frame rates with sight lines on,
I'm not sure if you are having performance FPS wise or latency problems.

I have 4790k gtx 970 so your pc is better but about the same specs all around lol.

Correction they must of moved the server or i miss remembered. The servers are indeed in Chicago. Yeah latency is always a factor in action games, so if its a small team doing a game with no servers other than american ones can get a bit complicated. I am thinking of going in to the tourny tonight to see if the lag is playable. :)

What you say sounds like the game rewards lower ping / players that connect closer to the host.
Netcode in gaming especially shooters isn't easy especially when you use those underwater sea cables to play against someone from another continent. likewise about posting, I'm new to this game and all information is helpful and appreciated.

I don't like unreal engine or unity. I'm picky and would prefer a programmer who knows how to use matrix math multiplication but that's not the topic.

I don't think using opengl vulken or directx would be difficult to make this game especially since it's 2d, it could even use the GDI driver meaning you wouldn't need a video card but for how fast this game is you probably want something with less latency so GDI isn't good except for compatibility with old old windows.

@popcat the servers i believe are in Texas, I live in the UK. In Europe the problem is some what compounded. That being said if this was made in unity and they plugged there web stats and shop in to it would make a world of difference.

They did make an update after I made this initial guide and is seem to get 111 ping online now the stutter i mentioned before is not a problem, but then again I am using the settings from this guide.

I have to have the game on fullscreen also because otherwise I can not see whats going on in the field. (also 1080p) Thanks to your posting I tried the game out again and starting to enjoy again.

THanks for the posts!

World Wide Web Consortium host their website and probably their game servers?
I also see a lot of java script but again I'm not a IT.. I disabled my IPV6 in my network adapter settings and still play games online & get less packet loss but that is me personally. maybe it won't help everyone.

I experience lag in every 3D game online.
But 2D Paint online seems to be more stable for me personally.
I also am between Chicago & Detroit, two fast steam databases / servers. not sure where the host of 2D servers are or who host them..

Personally I have a issue with being forced to use the desktop resolution 1920x1080 as the field and screen is so big, it's almost too much to observe and micro mange.

Basically I don't get lag in this title only ( maybe due to lower traffic ) but I could see how converting the game from a web based one into a object oriented like c programming language would do the game wonders.

I only know how too fool around with object programming, I'm a doofus when it comes to networking.

@popcat If the game was not running in a browser the lag in multiplayer would be much better. The game barely uses any network and for a game like this it should not be lagging all that much. Like i said before though it really only when playing multiplayer that the game can stutter and its because the web browser does not use many resources.

also seems like the game is running a google chrome shell or something. high cpu usage like u mention .

it didn't run that bad for me but my core clock speeds are 4ghz
