I did some experimentation (from start of game to wave 1) and found some interesting properties of the resource buildings *as well as their collection rates*.

The Numbers (and my findings)
(In 15 minute time span)
Distance to keep doors has either an incredibly small impact of building output or no impact at all

I also think worker movement to the keep might be a simulation of whats going on, not an actual determinant factor of building output

These outputs are for level one buildings only

-------Farms--------- (farm buildings must be prepared by farmers, then they begin to grow, then workers will harvest crops)


1 grain farm with 1 grain field = 8 grain every 15 minutes
1 grain farm with 4 fields = 22 grain
1 grain farm with 20 fields = 10 grain
2 grain farms (zones intersecting) fields are equal in distance to both) with 4 fields = 16 grain
2 grain farms (zones intersecting) 4 fields are adjacent to each farm = 28 grain
*grain farm upgrades actually increase grain per worker dump making the farm collect 33% more

1 hop farm with 1 field made 3 hops
1 hop farm with 4 fields made 3 hops
1 hop farm with 20 fields made 3 hops
2 hop farms (intersecting zones) with 1 field made 3 hops

Conclusions about farming
Hop farms take longer to grow and harvest, so that in a period of 15 minutes the farmers can only harvest 3 hops from any number of fields.

when 2 farmers of the same type harvest from the same fields it lowers output, Try to put farms where only 1 farmer will collect from them.

These farming buildings can only handle a max of 4-6 fields per farm. Any more and your farmers will spend more time hoeing dirt than making hops/grain.

----------------flat rate buildings--------------------

Orchard made 15 food
Iron mine made 12 iron (amount of nearby iron changes nothing)
Stone quarry made 30 stone (amount of nearby stone changes nothing)
Lumber jack made 25 wood

Worker animations for these buildings (and their movement towards the keep) appear to be completely cosmetic, and their actions have no effect on the output of the building

Fisheries

The size of lake changes food rate

Multiple fisheries on the same lake is a waste, as it doesn't increase food gain
Disclaimers
From the testing I have done it appeared that most worker animations (excepting those made by farmers) were cosmetic effects, however this is not certain just very probable.

I understand that, but I actually tested distance from the keep door. Lumber camps that were 3 tiles away made the same amount of resources in 15 minutes as a camp that was 10 tiles away.
While workers do clearly deposit resources when those resources are added to your hud, I think it might be a cosmetic animation rather than a mechanic which affects building output. Essentially the buildings "create" workers that run around according to their predefined resource output (for certain buildings) and the running speed/idle time of those workers is changed based on distance to the keep. It may also be that 15 minutes is not enough time for the resource production output of a building to be affected by distance to the keep door.

I'm confused about the statement that distance to keep has no/little effect. The workers clearly run from their workstation to the keep or a storehouse to deposit the goods... the shorter the distance, the faster they can do that.

Are you simply stating that the amount of time spent at the workstation is much longer than travel time, making the effect of distance-to-keep negligible?

O wow this is good info. Saved me from having to test it haha. I was kinda shocked when i saw there was NO info like this in the building tooltips etc etc.
