Number Hotkeys
  • Press a number key to select a category.
    • e.g. [3] switches to distribution.
  • If you quickly press another number after that, you'll select that number block.
    • e.g. [3,1] selects conveyor.
  • For blocks after the 10th one, you can "dial" a 3rd number to select those.
    • e.g. [3,1,2] selects overflow gate.
  • The "dialing combo" for each block is listed in its hover info.
  • Each category remembers your last used block, so you don't always need to dial the full combo.
  • Numpad keys can be used instead of number keys.
Directional Hotkeys
This control scheme is intended for use with controllers.
  • Cycle through block categories with previous/next category keybinds (default: comma and period).
  • Choose blocks with arrow keys.
  • Blocks are automatically selected by pressing any of these 6 keys. No dedicated keybind to just select a block is available, nor is it needed. Bind a button to right-click to deselect blocks.
  • Each category remembers your last used block.
Mouse Movement
Hold the "follow mouse" keybind (default: mouse back button) to have the ship follow your mouse cursor.

Another cool one is the mouse forward button to move your camera without moving your ship, and holding shift moves it faster (same with arrow keys)

the hotkeys I wish I knew were the ones to restore the menus, I've hit those and had no idea how to restore them

@ ootyka number hotkeys were added fairly recently, so you couldn't have used them that long ago.

Press control and drag when placing objects to auto place them. Useful with conveyor belts.
