HP & HP Density For Blocks (Abandoned)
由 Xcyiterr 制作
A handy list of some of the HP and HP densities for blocks in TerraTech, and how to measure them yourself.
Note: This guide is over half a year old, and therefore extremely outdated, but most of the information here should still work (I hope).
Update: Yeah no this guide probably isn't being updated anymore. I have other things to work on.

Introduction & Technicalities
So I thought to myself, hey, wouldn't it be great if I actually knew what the actual HP of all the blocks in the game were?

Tired of making choices based on guessing, I set out trying to find a good way to "measure" the HP of the all the blocks; and this is the result I came up with.

Note: This method only works in the R&D mode of TerraTech.

So the method I use to measure the HP of each block is by using this here tech:

So as you can see, using GSO's "Narrow Gauge COIL Laser" as a base unit; and therefore the number of shots a block can take before breaking will be it's total HP. Then, to derive the HP density, take it's size in terms of 1*1*1 cubes, and divide the HP by the size.

Note: I have been informed that the Narrow Gauge COIL Laser isn't really the best unit to measure HP by, and that I should use Venture's Oozee SMG instead (lowest damage in the game per shot), but eh I guess I'll change that at a later date.

This, of course, depends on that the damage output from the Narrow Gauge COIL Laser is consistent, and the damage taken by blocks is also consistent.

Steps to Measure:
  1. Disconnect the tech into two with the explosive bolts.
  2. Place the block in the line of fire of the Narrow Gauge COIL Laser.
  3. Measure the size of the block. (X*Y*Z or whatever)
  4. Toggle the team of the target tech.
  5. Fire slowly and count the number of shots that damage the block. Go as slow as needed and make sure not to fire too fast, as you might overshoot and hit it during the "break animation", where the block may be invincible (not tested).
  6. Record the value down.
  7. Divide the number of shots that it took to break the block by the size of the block in terms of 1*1*1 cubes. (In the above image, it's a 4*2*1 block, so it comes to 4*2*1 = 8.)
  8. The result is your HP density, so record it down.

Note: During the HP measuring process, the block may "pop off" it's stand. Easily fixed by placing it back on again in the correct spot. To prevent this, additional blocks may be placed around the block to prevent it from disconnecting and also hold it in place if it does.
The Actual Tables
Below here is all the data I have gathered so far. Feel free to comment below and post any results you have gathered yourself so I can verify and add them. Please do realise that this table is extremely incomplete and may be out of date. I'm lazy, don't judge.

Note: HP density values have been rounded to 2 decimal places.

Additional Stuff
Interesting conclusions to draw from the table:

  • The GSO Mobile Delivery Cannon is superior to the BF Mobile Delivery Cannon in terms of HP. There doesn't seem to be any drawbacks either, so therefore the GSO one is superior. This is also the case regarding the GSO Refinery and the Better Future Refinery.
  • Hawkeye's Long Jack Bracket's description says, "This Long Jack Bracket is lighter than a Two Block, but just as durable." This is false. The Hawkeye Long Jack Bracket has less HP than a Hawkeye Two Block.
  • Better Future's One Face Blank Block has more HP than a regular Better Future One Block, even though it doesn't mention it anywhere.

Well, I guess that's all for now. Thanks for browsing.

the wiki as hp and damage values to the block altho it int very updated and many blocks don't even have there own pages or they did'nt bother to tell the hp value for some of them i suppose we could use the wiki data and this to get the hp of the things the wiki doesnt tell us

thanks for the heads up

this is all good except for one thing you said, the HE burst gun does 175 dmg per shot

I find it funny how venture says their blocks are fragile but gso is the same as venture in block health now all I have to do is find out whether I want to lag the game or just use geocorp because its faster

ah sorry my bad
yeah that's reasonable

I'm not saying you should redo it, I'm saying people can multiply it so they can get a rough estimate of a block's health and how much of another weapon needs to be used to destroy it.

also egh
can't be bothered to go back and redo the guide
may edit it when I get back into the game, but for now I'll just let it sit in its current state
my apologies, but I am indeed very lazy
