SUBJECT: Re: Re: Re: Trains, BUT MORE THRILLING!!!11!1!one!

Val,

I mentioned your "thrill-inducing branch line" idea to the regional R&D supervisor on Monday. She seemed intrigued, to say the least. Quarterlies are coming up, and I think - barring any unforeseen disasters - funding for your little project should be pretty easily approved. The sooner you can get me a formal, written proposal, the better. I'm especially looking forward to seeing that loop-de-loop thing that you mentioned.

I'll be dropping off the holonet for a few days (starting Friday) for the leadership retreat on Rho Encal. But who knows, maybe this will take off and become a whole new department for us. Trains, but for thrills!

This is a collection of 27 parts that can be used to build your own (decorative) roller coasters. Tracks are the same size as standard IPRR tracks, but are loosely based off of real-world RMC IBox roller coaster track. Don't forget to merge everything when you're done to save on block count!

This set was created as part of an as-yet-unfinished theme park station build, so stay tuned for that in the future.

A few notes about specific pieces

-The twist pieces can be used to bank turns or create inversions. Chain four of them together for a full in-line twist.

-The horizontal-to-vertical section can also be used as a 90 degree banked turn, or to create an inverted top hat in combination with the twist pieces.

-The half-loop can be combined with the twist pieces to create a 180 degree banked turn or an Immelman/dive loop. This piece is assembled from the horizontal-to-vertical section and straight track, but I've included it as a seperate piece because it's convenient.

-The elliptical loop pieces are designed to be combined with the quarter helix pieces to create a vertical loop.

-The chain lift pieces have moderately high block counts, try to use them sparingly.

-I have not included any supports, so you're on your own with those (for now at least).

-There is no switch track because roller coasters use different switch mechanisms than railroads, and I thought converting a railroad-style one would look weird. Most modern roller coasters use either rotating track pieces or sliding transfer tracks for switching, which can both be approximated with the existing track pieces in this set.

-I have no plans to do a half corkscrew at this time. I think it's possible, but it sounds incredibly time-consuming.

Possible future developments for this collection (tbd), let me know if you really want any of these:

-Intamin-style box track
-Lower detail chain lift pieces
-Launch pieces (probably LIM)
-Trim brake pieces
-Single-rail track (RMC Raptor style) and trains
-Basic support structures
-Inverted trains
-Themed trains
