MWR - Dark Metal Sturmgewehr 44 [AK]

“The StG 44 or also known as the Sturmgewehr 44, one of the fatherland’s first assault rifle and was designed by Hugo Schimesser, the same designer of the MP 18. It carries 30 round magazine and fires 5.92mm. The origins behind the StG is that it is modeled after the Haenel MKb 42 (H). The MKb 42 was developed and used in combat however Adolf Hitler halted the production of MKB 42 since he demanded more submachine guns than rifles. Despite the project was terminated, the development of the MKB was still in progress. The MKB had few adjustments and changes needed with the closed bolt, barrel, sight rails and so fourth. With some improvements and modifications made, the MKb involved into the MP 43 or Maschinenpistole 43. After few MP 43s were used by the German Army, the project of the MP 43 was discovered and Hitler was surprised that the MP 43 had a higher production for the German Army. Hitler had a chance to see the MP 43’s performance and the weapon had proved it’s combat effectiveness. Hitler was impressed of the MP 43’s fire power and gave the weapon a high priority. Towards the end of 1944, the designation of the MP 43 was renamed as the MP 44 but was finally given the name as the Sturmgewehr 44 for propaganda purpose.”
