Those skills can absolutely be used for a successful playthrough, but they're significantly harder than Small Guns and you only want one weapon skill early game.
At high enough levels (close to 100%), and wearing no / light armour (weight matters), you can spend a combat turn or two simply running away, preferably away from directions enemy is facing and/or behind obstacles (even trees, your own party, THEIR party...). Also, running / obstacles is how to reduce enemy accuracy / attacks per turn.
Then end combat and re-engage on YOUR terms. Great for going solo or random encounters that you are horribly under-prepared for but want to conquer; make sure to set any followers to "Stay close to me" so they also run and don't get too shredded.
Bonus Move helps a lot in this regard and is a great perk in general.
All this in mind, winning move: you can hold "A" when surprised during a random encounter to take the initiative, run until you have 1 AP left, sneak and attempt to end combat.
You can successfully win a lot of fights as a naked glass cannon with the right build. You're welcome.
Well... you can kill chieldrens without getting "Childkiller"
How it works? easy... just get 1 member (for example Sulik) start to attack children (but don't kill it) then the horrible work will do Sulik, and you don't lossing reputation too. you can try it.
