This is a fix for the game crashing at startup on modern processors. It's simple to do - just download the file and extract it to your Dead Space 2 directory.

I have managed to create a workaround that doesn't require you to gimp your PC and reboot.

----Instructions----

Extract these files into the Dead Space 2 installation directory (the same folder as deadspace2.exe) and run the game.

Important: If you extract the files with the Windows zip tool, be sure to unblock them after extraction (right-click each file - Properties - Unblock).

----Disclaimers----

- This is a custom build of elishacloud/dxwrapper (Github link removed) that I created specifically for Dead Space 2. I am not affiliated with the original developers of this wrapper.
- I have virus scanned these files and they are clean, however you should always scan downloaded files yourself.
- It works by intercepting the exceptions raised by the process and allowing execution to continue.

---Update for users with newer Intel Hybrid Core CPUs--- (Updated 29/01/2023)

It has been brought to my attention that some users with newer Intel CPUs (those with a mixture of Performance and Efficiency cores) are experiencing shadow flickering issues with this fix. I have not been able to reproduce this issue myself, but an alternative fix is available for users with these CPUs (thanks to Skeeter for providing the fix).

Got the game running, but the textures are flickering. I tried the other fix and it's still flickering. What am I doing wrong?

TYSM!! I literally spent a hour+ trying to figure out how to get this to work. It was saying that it couldn't initialize my display settings. To anyone who is having that error pop up, or if you are CTD when you try to boot up, extract these files into the directory, start the game normally through Steam.. ALL GOOD! 😎🤝

I had done both downloaded the files and limited my CPU to just one core for the game. And yet the game continues to crash after I try to walk past a door (The door before the second save). Someone help me

Thank you for this! I love this game and just bought it for a great price. Game would not load at start up and would stop. I found this work around and installed as instructed, it worked! Thank you for the help!

Also could crash because of old version KLITE Codec. Update helped me

If the file says Dead Space 2 and not deadspace2.exe, is it still the same?

How I'm supposed to extract it & put on deadspace2.exe but were can I find that on windows 11
