{NOTE: This is an upgrade to the original design found here:
https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1773996879;
designed and tested in the upcoming Desperate Foothold survival mission.}

Spiff's Practical Engineered Solutions, a division of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, presents an upgrade to the Deep Reach planetary miner, a vanilla small-grid design without mods or DLC, and contains no rotors or pistons making it a perfect survival-ready solution for large mining projects. Designed as a high-capacity vertical miner with a low center of gravity for maximum stability, the Deep Reach planetary miner extracts ores effortlessly with its 25 drills that are optimally spaced and 8 large cargo containers. Fully loaded with ore, ice, and/or stone, the payload capacity of this miner is over 575 tons using 1-1-1 realistic settings. The tested lift capacity of this ship exceeds the carrying capacity of all containers combined, i.e., 8 cargo containers, 25 drills, connector, and cockpit, and requires 3 large reactors for power.

Revisions to the original design include twice the number of gyroscopes for stability, with a new programmable block, remote control, and four of the gyroscopes dedicated to the installed autolevel script (thanks, Archon!). The remaining 12 gyroscopes allow the ship to still be highly maneuverable with the autolevel script running, even when fully loaded. Finally, four gatling turrets were added for defensive purposes in hostile environments.

NOTE: Enable ingame scripts in advanced settings for the autolevel script to operate!

NO MODS, NO DLC, NO ROTORS/PISTONS; SURVIVAL READY AND PROJECTOR BUILDABLE!

STATISTICS
Tested Gross Mass: 736 tons (using cobalt ore)
Empty Mass: 161 tons
PCUs: 10,932
BLocks: 596

CONTROLS
{Ctrl-1}-{1} Drills
{Ctrl-1}-{2} Camera Down
{Ctrl-1}-{3} Run AutoLevel
{Ctrl-1}-{4} Stop AutoLevel
{Ctrl-1}-{5} Connector, Docking, Throw Out ON/OFF
{Ctrl-1}-{6} Camera Docking
{Ctrl-1}-{7} Connector, Docking, Switch Lock
{Ctrl-1}-{8} Atmospheric Thrusters ON/OFF
{Ctrl-1}-{9} Large Atmospheric Thrusters ON/OFF
{Ctrl-2}-{1} Marker Lights ON/OFF
{Ctrl-2}-{2} Spotlights ON/OFF
{Ctrl-2}-{3} Gatling Turrets ON/OFF
{Ctrl-2}-{4} Ore Detector ON/OFF
{Ctrl-2}-{5} Antenna ON/OFF

Note: Remember to clear away stone and/or ice by selecting the drills {Ctrl-1}-{1} and right-clicking your mouse as you descend into the ground; select {Ctrl-1}-{2} for the downward camera view, and {Ctrl-2}-[2} to turn on spotlights. Once you hit an ore deposit, left-clicking your mouse will collect ore. Manually placing excess stone in the docking connector and selecting {Ctrl-1}-{4} will dump the stone to make room for more ore/ice in the cargo containers.

I tested this miner on the Alien planet with its 1.1g environment. I was able to carry a full load of ore, including full drills, without a problem.

my only concern is that when using it in titan or mars in gravity while its fully loaded, it will likely not be able to lift itself out of the ground

I have a new version that, besides the greater capacity and collection rate, has four significant improvements: 1) it's much more blueprint-build friendly (i.e., a much better component layout and several bottom connection points for the projector that don't interfere with key components); 2) it sorts and dumps waste stone; 3) is ground accessible for non-jetpack access to the cockpit; and 4) it has a front docking connector for straightforward visual docking. Converting the new version to use ion instead of atmospheric thrusters would be very easy, and changing the front docking connector from horizontal to vertical would also be very easy.

Can you design one of these for use on mars or titan? Also have a docking system thats Vertical to connect inside a ship.

Excellent. Now you, too, are a Jedi Master.

That did the trick. Thank you.

As a side note, I need to figure out a slick way to get into this critter without the use of a jetpack. I need a small-grid ladder, but I'm trying to keep it going without mods. I'm open for ideas from anyone.

I'm guessing the assignments went south. OK, let's try this. While in the cockpit, hit "G" to allow you to assign keys. Then drag down the programmable block (it should be named "DRM - Programmable Block") into slot 3, select "Run", and enter "run" for the argument. Do it again, but this time drag the programmable block into slot 4, select "Run" again, and enter "stop" for the argument. Now you should be good-to-go.

Ingame scripts have been on since I first started the world

That's because you need to enable ingame scripts in the advanced settings before you load the map.
