Always catch goldfish.

Beskrivning
This mod ensures when you catch a fish, if you have either 11 luck, or using weird doll as bait, you'll catch the golden fish. However you can still fail in catching a fish, and it'll still only work once(so no multiple golden fishes). Not compatible with any mod editing fishing.

Install(Important!):
After subscribing, go into mods in the game menu, activate the mod, then restart the game(You must restart). Then you can play(Works with current playtroughs, no need to start new game).

-- 100% works with latest version, but anyway this is how it works:

When you fish, the game does a check to see what happens. Either 1: You catch a fish, 2: You catch a boot, 3: You catch nothing, 4: Nothing happens and you get the choice to whistle\wait.

This mod does nothing, if 2,3, or 4 happens. If 2,3, or 4 happens, the game behaves as normal.

If 1 happens(you catch a fish), this happens:

Game asks: "Random check based on luck: "Did you catch the goldfish?", if yes - Goldfish, if no: "Get fish(random fish)".

My mod, when 1 happens(catch a fish), this happens:

"Is luck 11? Yes: Catch GoldFish, If not:
Is WeirdDOll used? Yes: Catch Goldfish, if not:
Random Check based on Luck Catch Goldfish, if not:
Catch Fish".

GoldFish can only be caught once pr character.




FAQ:

"I boosted luck up to 11 with booze, and i'm not catching the gold fish!":

Luck boosted by alcohol is temporary based on in-game time(not REAL time), fishing is an activity that usually takes more than an hour, so by the time you actually catch a fish(unless you're really lucky and get it on the first fishing attempt), the luck boost from alchool is already run out, and you had less than 11 luck.

"Then 11 luck check is pointless!"
11 Luck is for those that decided(for RP reasons) to go all in on luck and get a character that has 11 luck. If you didn't decide to create a character that has either a natural 11, or a permanent\long lasting boost for 11(such as through a certain bonus you can get), the wierd-doll is an alternative.

It is to give a bit of a reward for having invested completely into 11 luck, making it actually have somewhat of a use, beyond just a 'slight higher chance'.

Dear SKN The LISPer, thank you for the clarification. It was my mistake and I am sorry for that, I´ve installed it correctly however I didn´t activated it in game (mod section on the main menu). I got it. :D

With this mod, (which affects layer 3, and layer 3 only). If you have 11 luck*, or used the wierd doll, no die will be rolled, and instead, you will have 100% chance of the golden fish (once only, obviously).


So in essence, this mod makes the golden fish go from 0.3% chance of happening, to 30%**.


[*] - at the time this check happens, NOT when you start fishing. Time progress fast when you fish making luck boosts unreliable, ods are you'll have < 11 luck when layer 3 hits and so the standard 1% chance to get the golden fish instead of other fish


[**] - Assuming that the chance is 30%, would have to see actual source to be certain the exact chances.

Mod works. Either you didn't activate it properly (need to restart after activating), you have a mod conflict, or (more likely) you missunderstood how the mod works.


This is how fishing works (in Atom, with or without this mod):
Layer 1:
Do you catch something? - rolls a die, if not high enough result, repeat. If high enough result, go to layer 2.

Layer 2:
Roll a die: Did you catch a fish? If yes, goes to layer 3, if not. Returns trast\nothing

Layer 3:
Roll a 100 sided die. If the result is 100. You catch the golden fish. If the die is any other number (1 - 99), you catch any other fish.


Chance to catch a fish (as in, getting to layer 3) is somewhere around 30% iirc. So the chance of getting a golden fish, is 0.3%.

Oh yeah; I forgot to say that it is amazing that the creator made this mod before the devs made a patch to make catching the golden fish possible and I stress again thank you very dearly.

I am just commenting on the changes they made to say that it is very possible on a modless save now for people who don't want to fudge around with their saves to get a Golden Fish buffed character to Trudograd via character importing

So I just made a character and double checked for a while and it seems the odds with Weird Doll and 11 Luck in the base game of your catch being a Goldfish are now around 80%

I have not tested this with spider brains (which everyone says seems to have higher odds so maybe those are 100% in the base game now), but the Golden Fish is actually reasonable now

The test was just doing catches and 20 of 25 catches were the Golden Fish; I was just lucky before checking and recording the time before or I misremembered

I don't know when they made that change though cause it doesn't seem anyone has talked about it and it was not that way at launch, but I have verified this many times and out of 30 catches with 11 luck and weird doll without the mod (all on a base luck 2 character who started with 1 luck and got it increased by offering meat to the idol in the forest to 2 and then drank himself into a coma to reach 11)

I only figured out the change was made by playing the game without mods to ensure I could carry my save to Trudograd (which is why I still have not played this game with mods) and cause I wanted all of the permanent buffs the game had to offer in a legitimate run for a Trudograd import
