How to
Hold the "Reset camera button" LT for controllers, for keyboard as always it's better to use Left Control.
What's the point?
Well, I can't say the same for Yakuza Kiwami 2 unlike from Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza 0, curb stomping is not an option this time around, enemies get up from the ground too fast and bosses constantly roll after being knocked down, the only usage I found so far for this is to use Majima's "Tiger Drop" (his dagger counter) since, unlike from Kiryu, he always gets a heat prompt to pierce the enemy through when you lock onto enemy.

The main reason to block heat actions in Kiwami 2 is to do a heavy swing with a weapon against a group of enemies instead of obliterating one with a heat action. I did it quite a bit in the Shangri La mission with iron pipes.

finished 3 and playing the 4th, this should've been since the third installment and doing random heat actions is so damn annoying

Yeah, the ability to suppress heat actions by holding LT (or L2 on PlayStation controllers) has been around since Y5. Very useful for preserving your heat against downed enemies with low health and that kind of thing.
