To use the numpad you have to actually have one, so if you are on a laptop or use a tenkeyless keyboard you might be out of luck
Second numlock has to be on, which it usually is
If you are pressing buttons on the numpad and nothing is happening that'll be a different issue
As an alternative to the numpad you can press F8 and click the buttons at the bottom of the screen, however I don't recommend it as something like clicking the teleport button will put you under the map
