I had two runs with no possible path, one where I couldn't avoid damage and was destroyed, and the final, successful one was rough with no good weapons, not much fuel. I got to the Crystal Sector with two missiles, and just one Hull Laser, not enough to penetrate ships with three shields.
Restarting to get the scanners saved a lot of time I'd otherwise wasted on runs which ended up without finding either the unlocks, or the Rock Homeworld.
I could have avoided more fights, but I kept running out of fuel, waiting and having to fight in order to continue. I did get a few "freebie" fuel events, but without scrap I couldn't take advantage of the fuel selling events -- something I ordinarily go for all the time.
Insane.
I am pretty sure I spent most of my playtime just hunting the crystal cruiser and honestly, it has put me off playing FTL. I don't want to force unlock it as I actually want to experience the questline for myself.
Just narrowing it down will really help on that.
