If you are, check your Max Payne install directory for dinput.dll. If it's not there, the Fixpack may have been installed to the wrong directory. Try uninstalling it from your Windows Programs List, then reinstall and make sure to choose your MP directory.
For Max Payne 2, go into the game's launcher and make sure Multi-Channel Audio is unchecked.
The HUD does not appear in the cutscenes, at least for me. The only time HUD appears in a cutscene is at the very beginning when you find Michelle, the exclamation point stays on screen for whatever reason, but in other scenes none of the HUD is there.
The PS2 port came after the PC release and motion blur was added as an optional effect. I think you could probably achieve an effect similar to that using something like Reshade, but it's beyond the scope of this fix since it wasn't in the original game.
Any chance you two top lads can look into the loading screen resize and HUD during cutscenes issues? This Frankenstein's Monster setup of mine isn't ideal. If that doesn't interest you, hey, no problems. Life is busy enough.
Laaastly, and this is just a wonder or wishlist thing more than anything because this is no doubt an engine-deep issue/port issue. You two ever played PS2 Max Payne?

It's subtle, but both shoot dodging, and regular bullet time have a wicked cool motion blur effect (shader?) put over the whole screen. The PC version lacks this, something I noticed even back in 2020. I checked online, and absolutely nobody has made note of this issue. Anything your two minds can come up with? If it's as simple as "likely a port issue Remedy never fixed" and as complicated as "we can't do anything about that," well them's the ropes. Cheers, Max Payne forever.
1. The HUD - Max's health, his weapon equipped + ammo - will appear during all cutscenes.
2. Loading screens are resized smaller, and in the center of the screen for some reason. I see you make note of the loading screens being shifted down, so you guys know it's there, but the 2020 fix definitely didn't have this issue, or the preceding one. No cutscene HUD, no loading screen resizes.
Steam made make this comment shorter, splitting this up: couldn't find the 2020 version, 2023 version has the same bugs, went and found old fix files and combined them all, voila! Issues gone, although the aspect ratio is screwed up; Max and the game look like they've been pancaked. Small price to pay for my issues being fixed.
