Sunscreen

Cave Johnson here, reminding all test subjects to apply a generous coating of Aperture brand sunscreen all over your body before entering any test involving a Hard Light Bridge. And I mean all over your body. Eyes. Hair. Teeth. Yes, even your... gentleman's possessions. Due to the recent affliction of beautiful weather here in Michigan, our solar wave harnessing coils are significantly overcharged. That means those Light Bridges are outputting sweltering levels of heat. If you go anywhere near them without wearing Aperture brand sunscreen, you'll burn away faster than my bank account. Not all bad news though; thanks to the excess heat they're producing, those bridges make for a damn fine barbecue. So, lather on that sunscreen nice and thick - we'll be using it to stick burgers, steaks, and sausages all over you so I can eat... uh, I mean so we can test how well they cook. Cave Johnson, well done steak here. What? I mean medium rare. What? I mean we're done here.

I'm back after a six month hiatus with my first test of 2019 - SUNSCREEN: an easy-medium map focusing on a vertical light bridge which blocks the path of a faith plate. I spent a couple of weeks painstakingly trying to get this one to work, and then it all clicked together in a couple of hours this evening. Funny how that works sometimes.

If you're wondering why it's been so long since my last test, part of the reason is that I've been really busy with university, another part is that I've been focusing on working on my mod Portal 2: Desolation, and yet another part is that honestly I was pretty burnt out on Portal for a while. I frequently tried to make test chambers, I had some good ideas, but none of them worked out and I just ended up frustrated. Now that I've had a long break from the game, I feel reinvigorated and ready to begin testing again. Just like old times.

Anyway, I really hope you enjoy this - I put a lot of work into it and it's quite an unusual test, so all feedback is appreciated. Here's to 2019, and I hope I can make a few more maps by the end of the year!
