I have loved Katamari since PS2 days, yet some controls were so messy to pull off consistently that I had stopped bothering with them - namely Dash, and to a lesser extent, Quick Turn. Now that it's on PC, it's time to finally roll the monkey off our collective back.

You need to enable Steam client's controller support to utilize this configuration. If you have already, skip this section.

There are better guides elsewhere for it, but here's a quick and dirty version:

1. Open Steam client's Settings window. Go to "Controller" tab.
   
   
2. Click "GENERAL CONTROLLER SETTINGS" button to open the Controller Settings window, then place a checkmark for your controller type (PS/Xbox etc.)
   
   
3. Select your controller listed below "Detected Controllers." If "CALIBRATE/DEFINE LAYOUT" buttons show up, do so.
   (If your controller is not detected, restarting Steam client usually helps.)
   
   
4. Optional: Back in the client's Settings window, you might want to apply "Disabled" template to "DESKTOP CONFIGURATION" otherwise your Windows desktop will respond to controller inputs which you may or may not prefer.
   
   
5. Close all windows you have opened.

If you are interested, you can refer to Valve's own documentation for detailed instructions.

1. Make sure the game is not running.
   (Actually you can hot-swap, but this will make things easier to explain and perform.)
   
   
2. Paste either of the following links into the URL field of your favorite browser (without quotes:)
   
   If you are using Usual Controls in the game:
   "steam://controllerconfig/848350/1615330016"
   
   If you are using Simple Controls in the game:
   "steam://controllerconfig/848350/1615344283"
   (The links are not clickable because Steam's url formatting doesn't seem to recognize their own steam:// protocol, duh.)
   
   Steam Controller Configurator window will open on the desktop.
   
   
3. Select "APPLY CONFIGURATION" then close the Configurator window.
   
   
4. Start the game, and if you have changed in-game keyboard mappings, reset it to default.

Done!

• Left Trigger: Quick Turn
  
• Right Trigger (Hold): Dash

Tip for Simple Control users: You may need to mash LT/RT a little for Quick Turn/Dash to kick in. I don't know why, but that's how it is with thumbstick/keyboard input as well.

• L3: Zoom Out
  
• R3: Zoom In

• L3: Fast Flip to previous mode
  
• R3: Fast Flip to next mode

(This is a somewhat hidden feature originally mapped to LT/RT.)

Hats off to Bandai/Namco for making such a masterpiece. Honestly you have been outright hostile to Japanese PC gamers over the years, but if you bring We Love Katamari to PC as well as following sequels with reasonable pricing, I for one just might call it even.

Regarding Usual Controls: This configuration simply utilizes chained activators, but I'm not quite sure how Fire Start Delay and Repeat Rate (for Turbo) add up. Does Repeat Rate in the first activator mean anything? What if it differs from the one in the second activator?

Regarding Simple Controls: It would be really nice if turn control could be remapped to the right horizontal axis, but Steam Controller API doesn't allow for individual axis redirection, as odd as it may sound.
