This guide replaces the old WineD3D wrapper fix as that method no longer works.

Changelog:

(2020/09/14): DxWrapper method has been replaced with DDrawCompat method, since the former also used a DDrawCompat library, the latest version of which can now be used as a standalone.

(2024/05/14): Updated the DDrawCompat and dgVoodoo method instructions for improved performance. Fullscreen Mode now uses monitor's native resolution in both methods, making Zoom Mode obsolete.

(2024/07/04): DDrawCompat v0.5.3+ added Steam overlay support. The dgVoodoo method is now reserved for specific use cases.

1. Download DDrawCompat v0.6.0[github.com].
   
   
2. Unpack ddraw.dll from the archive into the game installation directory (usually \Steam\steamapps\common\Fortune Summoners).
   
   
3. In the game installation directory create a DDrawCompat.ini file with the following content:
   
   CpuAffinity = all FullscreenMode = exclusive RenderColorDepth = app

This method has very low system requirements, enables Steam and Nvidia overlays, and should let you easily run the game at 60+ fps on High settings, especially with a multicore CPU. Going deep into sub-menus can still tank the framerate, but it doesn't affect the core gameplay.

Other things to know:

• Might not work with dual monitor setups (needs testing).
  
• If you use G-Sync and experience crashes, delete the FullscreenMode = exclusive line from the ini-file (reduces performance and breaks Nvidia overlay support).

1. Download the latest version of dgVoodoo[dege.fw.hu].
   
   
2. Unpack the archive into a folder and copy the files
   
   • dgVoodoo.conf
     
   • dgVoodooCpl.exe
     
   • DDraw.dll (found in the MS folder)
   to the game installation directory (usually \Steam\steamapps\common\Fortune Summoners).
   
   
3. Run dgVoodooCpl.exe and configure it the following way:
   
   • In the General tab at the Appearance section change the Scaling mode from Unspecified to Centered, keep Aspect Ratio.
     
   • In the DirectX tab at the Resolution section change the resolution from Unforced to Max or your monitor's native resolution.
     
   • At the Miscellaneous section enable the Fast video memory access option.
     
   • At the Miscellaneous section disable the dgVoodoo Watermark option.

DgVoodoo is a much more demanding wrapper (around 3x slower than DDrawCompat). Use it only if you have a decent PC and the recommended method doesn't work with your GPU, if you want to play the game in a resizable window* or to enable Windows11 AutoHDR support*. This method has been tested to work with multi-monitor configurations.

*requires additional configuration not described in this guide.

For best performance, run the game in Fullscreen Mode with Normal Use VRAM setting.
