"July 3rd, 1951

Dear Dad, sorry I haven't written in a while and I'm not even sure how much of this will make it past the censors. I'll be honest with you Dad, I'm scared, they've had our unit doing special training operations and mock battles for the past few months. Something big is about to go down, some of the boys heard a rumor that we're going to be flying over to England before long, but I have my doubts. I don't know much, but what I do know is folks are getting mighty restless, a lot of the boys are growing sick of the watching and waiting, they want to get up and go, even though we don't even know where we are going.... Dad I'm sorry for how I've acted in the past few years, I know we haven't always gotten along, but next time I'm on leave I want to talk and try to make things right. I suppose that's why I'm here now, I became a Sergeant because I thought you would finally be proud me and instead all I've done is make you and Mom worry. I know I haven't been the best son, but I swear Dad, I'll make you proud, before long you'll be reading tales of our heroism in the newspaper.
