How to play Warlock in Linux?

This is a small guide to help people to install and configure correctly this game using Steam Play (proton). Tested in Ubuntu 16.04 and Ubuntu 18.04

Introduction
Steam Play (proton) has become more and more stable. I play perfecty this game in Ubuntu 18.04 through Steam Play.
Step 1 - How to configure Steam to be able play Warlock?
  1. Open Steam.
  2. In the menu go to Steam → Settings.
  3. Then go to the tab Account.
  4. Now in the Beta participation section select Change, then select Steam Beta Update.
  5. Save and restart Steam.
  6. In the menu go to Steam → Settings.
  7. Then go to the tab Steam Play.
  8. Now check Enable Steam Play for supported titles and Enable Steam Play for all titles.
  9. Save and restart Steam.

Step 2 - Install Warlock
You know like always in steam:

Steam → Library → SteamOS + Linux → Warlock - Master of the Arcane → press Install button.
Step 3 - Configure Warlock
Note: If you don't do this step, you will lose your game saves.

  1. Open Steam.
  2. Go to the Library.
  3. Select SteamOS + Linux.
  4. Find Warlock - Master of the Arcane, then press rigth clic and Game settings.
  5. Then go to Local files tab.
  6. Press Browse local files (this will open the folder where is located the game files).
  7. Now rigth click in the folder and press Open in terminal.

Now write this and press Enter:
rm -rf home





Write this and press Enter:
ln -s /home home
Enjoy!

@obsidian shadow it's not my post that have broken image links. It's steam that is broken. You since last year. More info here: https://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/discussions/forum/0/2801754975102177422/

If you want to see the image in full size, click the image, then a popup will appear with a message "broken page" or something. Then in the top of this popup, you can click the link and it will open the image in a new tab in your browser.

Thank you for writing this guide and answering my question.

Thank you for explaining the rm command

Can you also explain the ln -s , what does it do?

And if it's not too much trouble could you explain the thought process and reasoning that led you to this solution. How did you work it out?

Also the images in your guide cannot be expanded, it says "invalid URL"
It would be easier for new Linux adopters to better see the terminal images if you can make them clickable and expandable.
I have a feeling that the double whammy of Win10 followed by Win11 will bring quite a few new people to Linux. Some will undoubtedly be fans of Warlock.

-r remove directories and their contents recursively
-f ignore nonexistent files and arguments, never prompt

The command "rm -rf home" will delete the folder called "home", make sure you are inside the folder! (if you follow my instructions, you should be good).

By the way, if you want more information you can execute this comand "rm --help" or "man rm"

I an very new to Linux.
Could you explain those terminal commands?
I know rm removes a folder, not sure about -rf argument and a bit worried about removing the home folder...
I'm not familiar with the ln command and it's parameters.

I have successfully played some games like planetfall and endless space on PoP OS Linux using Steam Proton and look forward to migrating most of my computing and gaming to Linux in the next few years.
