Cooperative Engineering

Welcome to my guide, this time I decided to take a look at the cooperation, mainly how to work and act with your fellow Engineers, even if you're non-engie player, how to help them etc...

So let's start!

Introduction
Engineer's job is kinda hard sometimes. Repairing a Sentry in a middle of the fight, building a Dispenser that your teammates keep desperately asking for, setting up Teleporters, spychecking, defending the objective, looking around the metal packs or stickybombs at once, the help will come in handy.

If you're stucked with teammates, who don't give a ƒuck about what Engineer is doing, send them this guide and teach them how to read.
Setup time
In setup time, especially on Attack / Defend and Payload maps, you will see your fellow Engineers building their Teleporter entrances in front of the spawn, and Sentries / Dispensers by their own Rollouts.

The best way how you, as non-engie class help, is simply switch to the Engineer for a 10 seconds and help them build and upgrade their Teleporters and their other buildings. Your fella will thank you for this.
Metal Packs
Metal and Ammo can be picked up from the same source, Ammo Packs (or Metal Packs if you want).
And by the fact that metal is more important than ammo beacuse from metal the Engie can build you a Dispenser which, belive or not, can give your both metal and ammo.
Simpy leave the metal pack for Engineer and don't steal it. This mindset is important when a lot stuff is going on, especially in setup time when Engies have limited time to build their own toys.

It is always better to leave a Metal pack to your Engie instead of refill few rockets for yourself. This act will benefit and help not just you, but the team as a whole. The Engineer can build you a Dispenser from the same metal.

Spychecking
When it comes to Spychecking, the players will often take a Pyro but keep in mind that it's not a Pyro's job, it's everyone's job.

Spahs are annoying
This fact is well known to all players. Spy's main targets are Medics, Snipers, Big classes like Heavy and of course, Engineer.

Stay near to your Engie's nest and watch out for Spies. I've started the sentence with Pyro's being the most effective against Spies so let's talk about...

Pybro

This Engineer-friendly creature is a huge help to an Engie. Pybro's loadout can be pretty much everything that can chase Spies. On a top of it, Pybros often uses Homewrecker which is a good help when the Engie isn't near or he's just dead but keep in mind when playing as Pybro, Your number one priority is to take down the Spy and then the sapper.

Pybro's ideal loadout

  • Flame Thrower (everything; only the Dragon's Fury is worse spychecker)
  • Scorch Shot (pretty much everything)
  • Homewrecker

Aid against Über push
Übercharge push is just perfect Engineer's counter (more here). There's no way that Engineer can defend the point against the Über on his own. He will need help.

The previous mentioned Pybro, or just any other Pyro player can airblast the Medic and his patient back or, if it's possible, cause the enviromental death.
The Loose Cannon Demoman can also push the enemy Über players.

Use brain, don't just stare at his dying nest.
Aid against spam
Spam is annoying for all players. Even Engineers are no diffrent in this. Spamming projectiles on Buildings can easily kill them.

How to stand against spam? Simply kill the person who's spamming.
The Short Cicruit is now great for removing this threat.
As a Heavy, you can use your own body to prevent the Sentry from dying (same goes for Spy with dead ringer).
As a Pyro / Pybro or whatever, use your Airblast to get away the projectiles, it's so easy.
Switching to Engineer
When Engie's nest goes down, you can go back to spawn, switch to Engie and help your fella with building just like in setup time.

When you see a sapped building, do the same and remove the sapper. Then you can freely switch back.
End
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you learnt something new here. Don't forget to rate this guide and write a comment, I read all of them and they really cheer me up.

Texas Style: Everyone is help, Engie is help, so help each other. Teamwork basically.

Also I just realized how spray n' pray the flamethrower is, spray the flames, the spy prays that they don't become a bar-b-que

I love this guide, it reminds me about just yesterday, i returned to tf2, i was playing pybro to shake off some rust in a partially controlled enviroment, I was returning to spawn to get more health and ammo because I used most of both to keep the sentry from dying, the sentry was low and i didnt notice the rocket making a beeline to it, i accidentally purposefully jumped in front of the sentry, causing me to die but keep the sentry alive.

I really missed this game

Yes I can agree. I play engi alot myself and when You first build a dispencer it takes a while for the ammo and metal to generate. And when I go to get metal I wait up to 10 seconds for it to respawn, Giving me no time to build the rest of my stuff. It is good and helpful to leave metal packs for us

Its helpful to have the homewrecker already equipped on your pyro when not in use, that way you can quickly switch to pyro and remove sappers off of teleporters at spawn if you happen to spawn right as it gets sapped.
