In order to do 50/20 Mode, I'm going to do extensive testing with each character to best determine the optimal strategy to hopefully win. This guide can be used for any purpose, but I started it mainly for 50/20 Mode.

Intro
I'm aware that someone else is already making a guide on each animatronic. The purpose of this guide is to cover characters that can be circumvented or made easier with the power of extensive testing and number crunching. Also the intent is to beat 50/20 Mode

This will be updated as I finish testing and looking for any exploits on characters that may ease difficulty.

(All data collected will of course have the characters set to 20 difficulty)
If you found this guide helpful, rate it up so others can see
Starting Out
For those that would like some more basic mechanics explained

How my measuring works for noise and power

Low(1) > Medium(2) > High(3) > Very High(4)
This is an example of my measuring. With the fan and generator on, there is low power usage(1) and high noise(3).

Time - 270 Seconds. That can feel like an enternity with all the characters on.

Temperature - Determines whether certain animatronics are aggravated. Your office heats up at a rate of 1 degree per second. Letting this get higher than 90 degrees may lead to a quick death with certain animatronics.

Noise - Determines whether certain animatronics are aggravated. Certain animatronics and tools raise this. Other tools lower it. Music Man is not a fan.

Power - Your lifeblood. Don't let it run out (too early). Almost everything you do lowers this.
It costs 15% Power for 45 seconds of operating at low power(1) Leaving you with 25% left over.

Ventilation Reset - You have 30 seconds until the ventilation requires a reset. This is the time when things go bad. Your screen will slowly darken until you're blind and be easy pickings for the animatronics. This process can be sped up by some animatronics. It can also be sped up by extreme heat.

(1) Power Generator - Lowers level of power usage by one. Generates medium noise(2) and has no visible power usage, while it actually lowers it by (1). If you have (0) Power Usage, then you no longer lose power with this on.

(2) Silent Ventilation - Halves the rate at which your office gains heat. Generates no noise(0) and costs low power(1).

(3) Heater - Increases Heat generation to 4 degrees per second instead of 1. low noise generation(1) and low power usage(1)

(4) Power AC - Cools the office at a rate of 4 degrees per second. Generates low noise(1) and uses low power(1)

(5) Global Music Box - Calms down certain animatronics. Also winds the music box for you at a slowed rate. Generates no noise(0) and low power usage(1). It takes 20 seconds for it to fully wind the music box from 0% to 100%.

(Z) Flashlight - Used to interact with animatronics. Generates no noise(0) and uses low power(1)

(Space)The Fan - It generates low noise(1). It has low power consumption(1). It lowers the temperature by 2 every second.

(WADF)Doors and Vents - They have low power consumption(1-4) if only one is closed at a time. Each one closed simultaneously stacks the power consumption up to very high. They generate no noise.

(S)The Monitor - Generates no noise, but consumes low power when in use. Is used as a trigger for many animatronics actions to occur or be stopped inside the office and outside.

Audio Lure - Despite its name, it generates no sound and uses no power. Lures animatronics in ducts.

Freddy Mask - Used to evade certain animatronics. Consumes no power and generates no noise. Mouse over left arrow in office to put it on.

Office Unlocks
Consider these your Milestones

There are 3 unlockable offices in the game

The Sister Location Office ~ 2000 Points

The FNAF 3 Office ~ 5000 Points

The FNAF 4 Office ~ 8000 Points

Now lets go through how to unlock each.

To reach 2000 Points, you could easily put on all non-lethal animatronics and call it a day.
Why don't we see just how many points you can get from doing almost nothing.
With this setup, you can get 3400 with almost zero effort. Just put the audio lure where I placed it in the video and you should be A-okay. (I purposefully screwed up to show how you can't lose with JJ and BB and the others.)

Video Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SNWt3O7j5k

Reaching 5000 Points isn't much harder if you know what you're doing

In order to get 5000 Points for the next unlock, I used these characters

They are very easy to manage. With the main threat being audio and doorway animatronics.

Video Example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSHW4X6B2iI&t=2s
(I was very out of it and tired when I recorded it if I you are wondering why I seem so slow)

Reaching 8000 Points is marginally harder if you purposefully exploit the 3 plush animatronics and the vent animatronics.

Gaming these characters is the key to your success

Video Example:
12:51 is when I do the successful run in case you hate my face
If you are wondering how it works, just keep the camera on the right hall cam after doing the audio lure. Next click the wetfloor sign to move it across. Anytime you go to reset ventilation, close the left door and front vent. That will stop any that can't kill you until you pull up the cams. Thats pretty much all I can explain without the video.
Special Characters
You probably won't be seeing them much, or will you..?

The one you really want to stay away from is this Guy
XOR (Shadow DD) (Rare chance to spawn on any night)
XOR apparently is a guaranteed summon on 50/20 mode, I cannot confrim or deny this as I have not done enough 50/20 mode to know. I've confirmed that he does indeed show up every single time on 50/20 mode.
When he appears, he flashes across your screen and vanishes shortly after.....

Then the FUN really begins

He will then cause a series of special summons that are all 3 seconds after the other causing me quite the panic when my screen starts doing the equivalent of Super Smash Brothers having a seizure while 5 new character popups flash on screen and more and more random crazy things happen causing you to quickly panic and go insane.

Sooooo how do you survive these extra characters on 50/20 Mode? You don't. If you do, then you may be the second coming of Christ.

RXQ (Shadow Bonnie)

He appears and makes the back wall and sides of the office dark for 10 seconds. I'm unsure if this affects any animatronics, (Springtrap for example) I doubt this is anything but a small distraction. He does not appear more than once per night.

Nightmare Chica
She causes very unsettling jaws to slowly close over your face. If her mouth fully closes, you get deaded. Prevent this by turning on the AC. (Apparently everyone else who mentions her says the heater will remove her, I cannot test this as I've only encountered her once using the AC as a repellent)
She does not appear more than once per night.

Plushtrap

Unfortunately, in my panic to remove him, I was unable to take a screencap of him. :/
Plushtrap sits in his chair and appears on one of the cams. For me, he was sitting on the right side of Funtime Foxy's stage. Click on him to prevent him from jumpscaring you. He does not appear more than once per night.

Lolbit
Appears and causes a MASSIVE noise presence. Type LOL to remove it. This cannot occur more than once per night.

Minireenas
They appear when you put your camera down and stay for about a whole HOUR (45 seconds.... or they might stay for only 30 seconds. I was panicking and could not accurately measure their duration confidently) in game. They greatly limit your vision in the office, making them in my opinon one of the worst contenders to handle. They only appear once per night.

Bonnet
Bonnet is a unique example. This is the only reoccuring special character. She will laugh and then move across the screen from right to left. To stop her, just click her nose. She will reappear in about 10 to 15 seconds.

Bottom line is that 10000 is not the highscore with these animatronics active. The actual high score would then become 10600....and we haven't even gotten to talk about the regular characters yet :/
Freddy Fazbear
Keep it Cold

Freddy is a very simple opponent. He spawns after around 12 to 16 seconds when you start the game. If you keep the temperature at 60 Degrees all night. He will reach your door right before the start of each hour. Whether you look at where he is on the cam has seemingly no effect on his movement speed or position.
Therefore one could easily deal with freddy the same way one deals with funtime foxy (minus needing to look at the cams).
I doubt one could keep the temperature at 60 Degrees, so I measured him at normal and max speed.(60 and 120 degrees respectively)
These are all based on averages, Freddy can show up seconds earlier or later.
Just go by the times on the table and treat him like any doorway animatronic by shutting the door in his face easily.

Bonnie & Foxy
Not too fast, not too slow

I decided to use the 2 of them together since they are inextricably linked

Bonnie seems to always disable your cams for 12 seconds if you look at him.

As long as you refrain from looking at Pirate's Cove when the Bonnie Figurine is on the desk, then this won't happen and you won't completely lose your run.

Foxy seems to have different aggression levels depending on if you have Bonnie on as well.
Foxy's aggression seems constant whether Bonnie is on or not. Whenever Bonnie is currently out, Foxy seems to pause on his assault until Bonnie goes away.
(After further testing, I can pretty much confirm Bonnie pauses Foxy. So try to keep Bonnie's figurine on the desk as often as possible to eliminate the risk of Foxy making it to you.)
Without Bonnie, Foxy requires to be looked at around every 10 seconds to prevent him from advancing to his next stage on the cams.

Chica
She bangs the Pans
OH BOY
The moment probably like 5 of you have been waiting for... why Chica was so annoying.
Its cause she likes to pretend she's not still banging
While I don't have any sure statistics for this one, I do have some information that can be found useful.

Chica is a fickle music listener, and as such she doesn't like it being the same for more than around 17 seconds at a time in my experience. Sometimes its much less at 14 seconds. I prefer using the music box as if I have chica on, I probably have the marionette on too.

Chica is another Global Music Box member, and she seems very unaggressive when you use that.
To my knowledge, Chica CANNOT jumpscare you if you have the right door down.
Using the Global Music Box when she has already stopped banging the pots for a while, seems to bring her back to the room and has her continue banging. If you use the Global Music Box exclusively when winding the puppet, then Chica should be a-okay with the same music selection all night long.

Alternatively, you could sit on the cams and change the music after Chica has been silent for a few seconds, so you know she isn't pretending.
Toy Freddy
Nope. I'll do him later
Toy Bonnie & Toy Chica
Slide to the left. Slide to the Right

Seriously though....they aren't really worth noting.

Their approach is signaled by a sort of static tune and lights flickering. Just put on the Freddy Head until they reach the center and move back. Statistics aren't needed here. They're a joke.
Okay.
Here is your "statistics".

Both Toy Bonnie and Toy Chica take about 3 seconds to go away after first appearing.

If you look in their direction while they appear, it shaves off 1 second.
In order to be considered looking in their direction, you have to be looking in the opposite direction first, then pan towards them with the Freddy Head on.

They won't jumpscare you unless you fail to put the Mask on before they finish their slide.
Happy now?

Mangle
Overstaying his welcome

Mangle as far as I know, cannot kill you....
Actually Mangle can kill you after reaching your office, its just very very uncommon in my experience....
Unless you run out of power

Use the vent snare to stop him. He will idle on the other side of the vent if you keep it closed, draining your power. He can reach your office through the left vent in 30 seconds. Snare him, and repeat.
OR close the front vent every time you open the cams. Mangle can only enter if you have the front vent open and the camera open at the same time.
BB & JJ
Peek a boo, I see you

They function in a nearly identical fashion, except for their "attacks".

BB will appear in the bottom right vent and all you have to do is press F to stop him.
JJ works the same way.

Failing to do this nets you one of two consequences depending on who was at the vent
(There seems to be priority given to BB, as i purposefully went to let JJ in and even though BB wasn't in the bottom right, he appeared instead of JJ)
You can't shine your flashlight....

or you can't shut your doors/vents

Don't let that happen.

They appear Every. Single. Time. when you open your cams (Yes its an exaggeration, theres about a 5-10% chance they won't. That is still far too small a chance to try and rely on). So an easy way to deal with them is to press F when you open your cams. Wait till the thud and press F again. Easy.
Withered Chica
What dat badonkadonk do?

Chica goes through the vents and can be stopped by the vent snare.....
OR closing the front vent will cause her to bump into it, forcing her to restart her crawl through the vents

If she is allowed to get to your office, there is a chance that she will get stuck and block other animatronics in the ducts (Mangle cannot be blocked)

When she did this for me, she took about 100 - 120 seconds to free herself and inevitably jumpscare me. Its debatable the tactical usefulness of using her to purposefully block the vent.

She will always get stuck in the front vent by the way. Even if the vent cams says she coming from a different vent.
Golden Freddy & Withered Bonnie
Blink and You're Dead

While it may seem strange to pair them, they both are functionally the same.
If you see them, put on your mask. Thats it....

Okay. In all seriousness, Withered Bonnie is one of the lowest threats in the game. He appears so rarely that I don't even think I've seen him more than once a night. Sometimes he just doesn't appear at all. So really Golden Freddy is who you should worry about.

He appears almost every time you leave the camera.
The reason I say put on the mask and not flip up the monitor is because the mask doesn't activate animatronics to kill you and it doesn't use power

The timing can be a major pain(less than a second to react), but if you condition yourself to constantly put on the mask after leaving cams. You should be A-okay even with crappy reflexes.
Marionette
Tightly Wound Scarer

The Puppet is the exact same as he always has been.
All you have to do is keep the music box wound.

Problem is....it runs out Fast

It takes about 17 seconds for it to fully unwind the music box. Then you're dead sauce.
(TechnicallyThe Puppet doesn't go straight to killing you, it just screws your ventilation so fast and so often that you won't be able to do anything until it or someone else gets you.)

Avoid this by by winding it yourself (not recommended on 50/20 Mode) OR using the Global Music Box to wind it slightly slower than if you had done so manually OR you could combine the two to very quickly (an extra second can make the difference sometimes) wind it back to full. The choice is yours.

It takes approximately 20 seconds to wind it back up to full with just the Global Music Box.
It takes approximately 5 seconds to wind it back up manually.
It takes approximately 4 seconds to wind it back up to full when you combine the two.

So make sure you time it well...
Springtrap & Nightmare Fredbear & Nightmare
Close and Open, Close and Open

Pictures can sum up my guide for these guys.

Close front vent

Open Front Vent

Close Left Door

Open Left Door

Close Right Door (Hey springtrap)

Open Right Door

Springtrap is the only one I've seen that doesn't need you to be on the cams to make an appearance.
Nightmare Duo both make an audible freddy laugh from the side they are on, so you don't have to leave the cameras to know they're there.
Pretty easy...when they're alone.
Happy Frog & Co
These 5 animatronics are one of the easiest 1000 points you can make in this game.
Happy Frog, Mr. Hippo, and Pigpatch all have a 100% chance to be fooled by the audio lure.
Nedd Bear has a 50% chance to be fooled
Orville comes in at around a 5% chance to be fooled

You can eliminate the first 3 by putting an audio lure here at the start

The reason its there is so that it can still attract those that try to pass the left side, without actively putting them on track through your left vent should they not be fooled.

Orville and Nedd Bear can be blipped back to the top with a small application of the heater.
Each one in order goes progressively faster than the one before, so Nedd Bear and Orville are the main threat.

There speeds are wildly inconsistent, so a little luck can determine how quickly they reach you.

If you somehow die to Mr. Hippo, he will tell you a very long story after your death that I think is better left experienced for yourself. There are 5 different stories that Mr. Hippo can tell you about.
Rockstar Chica & Jack-O-Chica
Heat is a Slippery Slope, Better use your Wetfloor Sign

Both inhabit the halls next to your Office.
Jack-O-Chica CANNOT appear if you keep the office below 90 Degrees.
Failing to do so will have her slowly materialize and jumpscare you, unless you shut both doors (while the temperature is below 100)

Rockstar Chica on the other hand is very inconsistent in my testing. I could not ascertain whether she has a cooldown timer or not after appearing and being sent away. She would show up after 20 - 60+ seconds. She always appears where your wet floor sign isn't from my experience. She also cannot move to your door unless you pull up the camera. Sitting on her camera will make her never spawn.
She can be completely countered by just moving the wet floor sign to the opposite side everytime you pull up and put down the cams.
Funtime Foxy
Don't miss the show, before he brings it to you

Funtime Foxy is one of the only animatronics that forces you to go into your cams.

At the start of the night, he will randomly cycle between 1AM to 3AM as his first "Showtime".
(Here is the time table as a reminder, each hour is 45 seconds long.)
Each showtime after his first can be 1 to 3 hours later.

  • 1 AM = 00:45:00
  • 2 AM = 01:30:00
  • 3 AM = 02:15:00
  • 4 AM = 03:00:00
  • 5 AM = 03:45:00
  • 6 AM = 04:30:00

Funtime Foxy can only kill you if his showtime is 5AM or earlier. 6AM will NOT kill you.
Funtime Foxy behaves differently if you leave the camera on cam 06, but don't have it pulled up to watch Foxy when showtime occurs. He no longer kills you instantly, instead waiting until you pull up your camera to jumpscare you. Meaning he will kill you if showtime is at 6AM if you don't have his cams already selected on your camera when its down.

Failing to observe his stage on cam 06 at that exact point in time will get you insta-dead. (if you don't have his cams selected at all.)
He is a popular recipient of the Dethcoin.
Rockstar Bonnie
Making a showstopping appearance

Rockstar Bonnie is a peculiar one.
He only appears when you lower your cams, and he has a surprisingly low chance to appear.
This is offset by his lack of a cooldown after he appears and is sent away.

When he appears in your office you will have (He seems to also dim your office right before his attack) 15ish seconds to find his guitar before he sings the song of his people.

There are 4 places his guitar can appear.

Left Hall

Right Hall

Funtime Foxy's Stage

Parts and Service Room

I would categorize him as a low threat due to how little he makes appearances. Two nights I actively provoked him to spawn and one night he didn't spawn at all, the other he spawned 4:15:00 in.

There is a very very low chance he can spawn back to back ~
He appears and you click on his guitar to remove him, only for him to then reappear when you lower your cams again.
Rockstar Foxy
"Yarrgh, ye win some, ye lose some"

Funtime Foxy is the only optional animatronic. He shows up even if his difficulty is set to 0.

He seems to only appear every 60 seconds, with his difficulty determining how rarely he appears.
There's a very low chance at 20 to spawn at any increment of 60 seconds. His chances to kill you are inconclusive, I do know that the risk is low though. He has 4 gifts he can give you.
  • +1% Power (Meh)
  • 60 Degrees (instantly drop temp down to 60, its decent)
  • Soundproof (That is actually a pretty good reward depending on who you have selected)
  • +10 Fazcoins (one that could potentially be of huge help with certain animatronics)

If you click him in a bad mood....
Ye get yerself a jumpscare
El Chip & Funtime Chica
Don't get distracted

El Chip is a distraction only. He flashes an ad on your screen that blinds you to your surroundings and plays audio over other characters. Press enter or click the skip button on the ad to remove it from your screen.

The ad will pop up every 10 seconds, with a rare chance to not show sometimes. It happens whether you are on the cams or not. It takes 5 seconds for the ad to go away on its own. You can still interact with the cams and other objects even if the ad is on screen.

Funtime Chica is also a distraction only. She appears every 35 seconds and causes disorienting flashes and a small audio distraction with it. Being on the cams does not prevent her from appearing. She has a low chance not to show up when she's supposed to.

Her distraction lasts 6 seconds. The auditory portion only plays half the duration, as do the flashes. The last 3 seconds are only the screen warping.
Scrap Baby
"Time for your controlled shock."

Scrap Baby is an office animatronic that punishes the distracted.

She doesn't start in your office though. She has a higher chance to appear the longer you stay on the cams. Once she does, she will appear here and never leave.

Now, anytime you open and close your cams she has a chance to look at you.

Failing to press the controlled shock button will lead to death the next time you open your cams. Be careful of false presses, as you lose 1% power each time you use it.
Music Man & Lefty
Keep the silence, lest it become eternal

Music Man is not limited to act on a whole second like most other animatronics (0:19:00)
Instead he can act on any time he desires (0:19:35)

Due to this, his numbers are a little harder to record. But I think I've got the gist of his schedule for murder.

Music Man will never attack you if the noise level never goes above low (1)
Go above low....and he starts getting mad.

He takes about 23ish seconds on medium sound(2) to start crashing his symbols together.
Interestingly enough he seems to appear after 19 seconds for both high and very high noise. (3&4)

If you continue making noise, then there seems to be a linear curve until he kills you with each level of noise.
Medium(2) ~ 17 Seconds before death
High(3) ~ 15 Seconds before death
Very High(4) ~ 13 Seconds until death
I assume each further level decreases by 2

He can calm down even if you are making low noise
If you stop making all noise above low right before he kills you....
it takes 120ish seconds before he fully calms down.
Basically its not very efficient to calm him down with low noise.

If you stop all sound right before he's about to kill you, it takes 15 seconds before he is fully complacent.
Using advanced math, we find that for every second of silence used to calm Music Man, it takes 8 to have the same level of effect on low noise.

Now Lefty is an interesting guy. He is annoyed by both sound and heat.
He shares an indifference to low noise(1) with Music Man. So don't be afraid to have a little noise.

The funny thing about lefty is that he alone is solely susceptible to the Global Music Box when it comes to calming him down. The Marionette at least has the wind-up music box.

Another trait Lefty shares with the Marionette, is that he also takes 20 seconds to fully calm down with the Global Music Box from his final stage (at 60 degrees with low noise(1))
Lefty seems to be completely unaffected by low noise(1) (unlike the music man who still takes longer to go away on low noise compared to no noise at all)

On high noise(3) Lefty is extremely aggressive, taking 10 seconds to appear and moving to his next phase every 8 seconds, with only a 7 second delay before he can kill you.

Temperature-wise, he seems unusually fine with anything below 100 Degrees. he shares Jack-O-Chica's tolerance for heat. Making an appearance should the heat go over 90 (too long).
When keeping the heat between 90 and 100 degrees and sound low. Lefty makes his movements approximately like this

(1st Stage) Appearing after 21 seconds

(2nd Stage) Waking up after 52 seconds

(3rd Stage) Standing up after 76 seconds

(4th Stage) Moving to the door after 102 seconds

(5th Stage) Standing in the doorway after 129 seconds
(Yes I know the screencaps don't match the info I'm saying, I recorded the data first before taking a screencap)

At his 5th stage, he can jumpscare you....but it seems there is an invisible delay between reaching his final stage and being able to jumpscare you. About 10 seconds is how long until he can kill you. Actually...the delay is based off his current aggravation. Temperature aggravates him less than noise. So 10 seconds is really the maximum time he takes. Not the average.

Flipping the camera doesn't actually seem to trigger his jumpscare. Changing the camera is the only time Lefty has jumpscared me, even on two completely unrelated cameras.
Phone Guy
"Hello, Hello?"

Phone Guy is a noise distraction character.
He appears randomly and gives you about 4 seconds to mute his call or he will generate low noise(1) for 60 seconds, he'll also talk over other animatronics' audio cues. This distraction can lead to a fatal mistake.

His mute call button can appear in many places, sometimes making it very hard to miss. The worst place to me is right above the monitor arrow, baiting you to accidentally open the cams when you go to shut him up.

Nightmarionne can be annoying when paired with phone guy, as taking too long to click the mute call button can get you killed from hovering your mouse.
Easter Eggs
Fredbear

"He's here, he's there, he's everywhere"

Fredbear himself does not make an appearance by his lonesome. You need Golden Freddy to draw him out to play.
FIrst, put Golden Freddy on 1, and the rest on 0

Collect 10 Fazcoins and buy the Dethcoin

Now the best part of all...lifting your camera up and down until Golden Freddy decides to appear.
Once he does, the Dethcoin icon will be glowing and all you have to do is click it.

Fredbear is not too happy about it...since he kills you and stuff.

Old Man Consequences' Pond

"How many times do we have to teach you this lesson old man?!"

First, put Old Man Consequence on 1 difficulty.

Once the night starts, wait (you may be waiting a very long time) until his minigame shows up.
Complete it and.....
you'll see a little freddy sprite falling endlessly.

Press Enter and you'll be shown... this screen.

The old man has a few words of wisdom..

then just wiggle left and right while holding down at the top of the pond to "leave" (Crash to Desktop)

since all animatronics have an almost set time for when they will attack, you can probably make a TAS that works for 50/20 mode.
