League Introduction
_________

Hello and welcome to the ACL - AirMech Community League.

Description
This is a weekly event for players of all skill levels to compete and use strategies that aren't normally possible in AirMech. Each week, a new ruleset/loadout will be announced and players must follow these rules when competing. This league is designed to be a break from normal competitive AirMech gameplay, giving players a chance to try some fun strategies outside of their comfort zone.

We communicate through the AirMech Tournament Discord -> https://discord.gg/KUp5Dzc
Our channel is #airmech-community-league. Please say hello and feel free to ask for help. This is a small effort, mostly put on by Sploosh with Twitch streaming support by cynicalllama. If you are interested in volunteering as event staff please contact the appropriate one of us.

Schedule and Rulesets
Saturday, July 14th
Ruleset: Hero Mode

Players will be split into groups of three.
Each round will consist of three games, each player rotating to play as the hero.
________

The Assassin/Defender side can only choose the following mechs:
Striker
Bomber
Helix
Angel
Paladin

The Hero can choose from mechs that excel at killing or escaping from other Mechs:
Warthog
Neo
Saucer
Osprey
________

The Defender must prevent the Assassin from killing the Hero, while still defeating the Hero's base as fast as possible.

The Defender shares deaths with the Hero, but only for when he is killed by another Mech.

If the Defender kills the Hero, he not only shares that death, but also receives a -5% penalty to his survival time as hero.

To prevent the Defender from just recycling all of the Assassin's units, no one in the match may recycle any units.

________

Wins for the Assassin/Defender side count as 1/2 a normal win.
Losses for the Hero count as 1/2 a normal loss.

Wins for the Hero count as 2 wins.
Losses for the Assassin/Defender side count as 2 losses.
________

At the end of the round when all players have played all roles, two players receive an additional win:
1. The player with the longest survival time as Hero.
2. The player with the most kills as Assassin.
And the remaining player receives a loss.

Scoring and Prizes

Since teams will be randomized each week, players will be judged using three categories. The stats from each week will carry over until the final week, when the winners will be announced.

The most obvious category is a player's win-loss record. Win/Loss points are assigned just like Kill/Death points (see below).

The ACL is testing out the idea of scoring based on a player's Mech vs Mech performance. To prevent abuse of the system and to open up the potential of winning to a much larger audience, kills and deaths will be combined into a weighted score.

-

The score will be tallied at the end of each week. Meaning you will start fresh each week at 0-0.

Finally, we will use Airmechs own scoring mechanism to determine who was the most efficient player. Scores from each match will be divided by the match time, giving a player's "points per second" or "points per minute". It is this number that players will be judged on.
Crowns
To encourage a spirit of competition, the top weekly players from each category will receive serious penalties to their scoring potential for the following week.

If you hold a 1st Place Crown, then you are not considered for any other crowns.
(e.g. Player A holds the 1st place Win/Loss crown, but is also 2nd place in Kills/Deaths. Player A is not affected by the 2nd place Kill/Death crown, and it passes to the next person in line.)

Win/Loss Category
1st Place Crown
Winning is no longer enough for you. Remain undefeated at all costs and you will be rewarded.
Your Win/Loss Points table is reversed and it resets for each loss you suffer.
first win +10, +20 … +90, +100, +100, etc.
loss always resets to -100

2nd Place Crown
Your tables are not reversed, but you start partially through them.
First win +70, +60, …, +20, +10, +10, etc.

3rd Place Crown
Your tables are not reversed, but you start partially through them.
First win +90, +60, …, +20, +10, +10, etc.

Kill/Death Category
1st Place Crown
All of your kill points are reversed and reset after each death.
Your deaths skip one tier each time and have no limit.
Kills:
+10, +20, …, +90, +100, +100, +100, etc.
Deaths:
-10, -30, -50, -70, -90, -110, -130, etc.

2nd Place Crown
First death each game counts for 3 deaths.
First kill worth +70

3rd Place Crown
First death each game counts for 3 deaths
First kill worth +90

Points per Game Category
No disadvantages!
