Called shot percentages don't go down with range. Have tactical master pilots, use marauders and a cyclops if you can find one, and have all your mechs take turns with the lights and mediums... wipe out all the actual threats before they can even move
That being said, for the early game you have to use whatever available.
I understand some mechs (e.g Annihilator) are missing, and needed to be included. But then, I need to play this game... without any mods. Not sure if I am willing to do that.
Unfortunately modding scene for this game went hardcore thus I really only see Roguetech-related ones, and I am not that willing to play Roguetech because it adds way too many stuff for this game can handle.
