Fix
Use DDU (recommended, but you can uninstall them like any other software in windows) and install version 391.35, this fixed the problem for me (using a GTX 960 4GB).

Remember your settings in Nvidia control panel and/or GeForce Experience because they will be the default ones.

I had the same issue of freezing screen approx. every 5 mn with my GTX 1080 GPU + one bug where I lost all my weapons when searching for Whyatt in the submarine My solution :
I reverted from latest driver 397.64 to driver 391.24 : no freezing anymore and restarted the mission for Whyatt.
My conclusion : do not update your driver GPU in the course of a game as you continue to play with a file which was saved with the preceeding driver. My day thought : when it works do no change anything in your game configuration... Good luck guys !

Yep reverted back to 391.35, no longer crashing :D
