Please note that you have to "Plant" the gates by right-clicking in order for them to be added to the network, dropping them doesn't work. The warp gates don't pair up in two-way back and forth travel like the natural worm holes, they are instead assigned a number and you can go anywhere in the network from any warp gate. The first gate you "plant" will be assigned the number "1". I use dropped rocks to write the Number the gate is assigned, on the ground near the gate to remind me without clicking on it
