British GT3 - prototype and series

With the GT3 an unusual design concept for a modern gas turbine locomotive for test use was constructed. The GT3 reminded with its frame to a steam locomotive. English Electric was determined to demonstrate to British Railways (BR) the potential of this type of propulsion. It reached a top speed of 145 km / h and showed excellent performance during the test drives.
