1 ) Edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\Aliens Colonial Marines\PecanGame\Config\PecanEngine.ini

2 ) Change each instance of StartupMovies= to //StartupMovies=

3 ) Save your changes and close the file.

-nomovie has a major down side. It skips all pre-rendered cutscenes.

Good question, I think if the developers included it, it's because when you run the game on regular basis or excessivel, it start being boring to press 5 times the ESC key each time you start.
It's similiar to Valve games and -novid
