Tried, after trying to open a bunch of different .sav file it semi-locks up - windows UI elements are clickable but the level-altering controls are still greyed so (guessing) it doesn't seem to be able to parse the savegame format

Well try the save editor with the current version and see if it works..

Thanks for linking the guide, it links to "Magicka Savegame Editor 0.2" which is for Magicka 1.3.5.1

Apparently "Magicka Save Editor 0.1.5480.7759" is required for Magicka 1.4.16.0 - the current (and final?) version because the savegame format was changed (?).
