I made this guide for those completionists who would like to clear this mode, do note that unlike the console version of this game, you'll get nothing from clearing it , no achievements no characters and not even a "congratulations" message, originally you could gain the ability to select the boss characters but on PC they're already unlocked and of course getting no rewards doesn't mean that you should leave the challenge mode uncleared, if you love the game then go for it .

Note :
to be fair and honest, i could finish everything in this mode except the 29th challenge , but i'll show you how to do it anyways, the screnshot is from a week ago before i did clear everything except 29th as i did rush the last mission before everything else :



i'm going to use the number notation for the moves motion , in case you don't know this picture will explain it all :


the Challenges
Challenge 1

Task: Five consecutive throw escapes.

to do a throw escape simply keep your guard on and once you get grabbed , press AB at the same time 5 times to finish the mission .

Challenge 2

Task: Five consecutive guard-cancel blow-offs.

to do a guard-cancel blow-off, keep blocking your opponent's attacks and once you get hit and after a couple of frames press CD to use the technique. honestly i don't get why you're strictly given kyo as a controlable player as anyone else can do this.

Challenge 3

Task: Five consecutive recovery rolls.

to do a recovery roll, press AB when you get thrown in the ground and before you reach the ground, simple

Challenge 4

Task: Defeat the opponent by hitting them between their incessant forward rolls.

For this task i recommand using kim , as his 214+D has many active frames and a large hit box, allowing you to damage your rolling spammer opponent

Challenge 5

Task: Five consecutive guard-cancelled forward rolls out of Yamazaki's low Hebi Tsukai.

Yamazaki's attack hits you twice when you guard, you've got more than a chance to do a guard-cancel recovery roll but only forward rolls are counted , press AB while guarding and after you get attacked to do the technique .

Challenge 6

Task: Counterattack guard-cancelled blow-off attacks and defeat the opponent.

basicly, your opponent which is Iori , will counter any attack you do , you're allowed to pick any character that you want, but the real question is : who can help you finish the mission ? what helps you here is the fact that your SDM gauge is full so you have access to your super moves, i recommand using EX-king ( to pick an EX-character, hold the select button before you choose it) , go away from iori , activate your Max statut and use your double strike DSM : 236236+D, iori will counter the first projectile but won't be able to counter the second .

Challenge 7

Task: Make a combo from normal move to command move to special move.
you're gonna be using iori for this , use the macro command to finish the mission , the macro command was by default programmed to use the combo mentionned in the mission's task.

Challenge 8

Task: Defeat the Kyokugen-ryū practitioners

in this mission you're gonna face : EX Yuri, EX Robert, EX Ryo, and Takuma, and you're allowed to only pick Kasumi or Eiji ( for those who don't know, these characters all do come from the art of fighting series, kasumi wants to defeat Ryo as a revenge for her father and Eiji wants to defeat the kyokugen dojo to prove that his ninja clan is unbeatable ) .
personally i'd pick Eiji, you're gonna face 4 opponents, fail once and you'll have to retry from the start , Eiji has a nice moveset , i'd recommand using his 421+D in the corners and his 214+C while you're far from the opponent . good luck

Challenge 9
Task: Combo a Mid-jump attack to a ground normal move to a special move.

this is a basic combo mission ,i did it with Kyo , all i did was j.5C->5C->236A . don't do a long jump attack first, use a mid-jump AKA a hop jump

Challenge 10

Task: Guard-Crush/Crash the opponent and hit him.
your opponent will be guarding the whole time , you need a character with fast and strong normal attacks , pick Terry and keep spamming 6C as it'll damage him twice , you've got only 30 secondes to do this.

Challenge 11

Task : attack your jumping opponent with a fireball
Kyo's fireball is done in this motion 623C or A , all you have to do is to use it when ralf jumps ,if you attack ralf before he jumps , the counter is reset and you have to start again, to finish the mission do this 5 times .

Challenge 12

Task: Perform a combo that uses a super special move.
for this mission i recommand Kyo or EX-kyo, corner the opponent and do this combo 5C->236D->21441236C

Challenge 13

Task: Combo a normal move to an evasion attack to a special move.

an avoid attack is an attack that can be used only in the Extra mode , to do it simply press AB then press AB again , your character will dodge the attack and counter it, you can do it mid combo to allow more possibilities , i recommand using EX-king and do the following easy combo : corner the opponent and : K->Evasion attack->623+D ( trap shot)

Challenge 14

Task: Perform a combo that uses a MAX cancel.

the MAX cancel can be done with ABC while you use a move , strictly only for Extra mode users, pick EX-king , corner the opponent and do this Easy combo : 623D->( at the end of the move quickly press) ABC->623D as quick as possible .

Challenge 15

Task : Defeat those who come to your way
My favorite mission just because it features geese agaisn't all the fatal fury cast ,except billy of course because he's his servant , anyways , you're allowed to pick either Geese or EX-geese AKA nightmare geese , and obviously i'd recommand nightmare geese as it's the boss version of the character , simply spam a j214C to finish the mission , beware of yamazaki and krauser ,the rest are cheesy.

Challenge 16
Task : finish off an opponent with 50% health in one combo
sadly , Ralf's galactica fantom is locked , the move can finish off an enemy in one hit , i recommand picking yashiro and going max mode then using 236236C maxed to finish him off in one blow.

Challenge 17

Task: Counterattack a guard-cancel blow-off.
Much like challenge 6 except your SDM stock is empty , so no infinite supers, But.. you can still charge them , pick EX-king go away from iori , charge your bar with trap shot 623C and once you get 2 bars , go max mode and do a double strick attack 236236D

Challenge 18

Task: Counter the opponent’s approaching mid-jump attacks with Raging Storm three times, consecutively.
Geese howard's raging storm is concidered as one of the hardest fighting games super moves to pull off this is 'the motion used for the move : 1412363C , and as a keyboard user,i concider myself lucky whenever i pull it off , in this mission you have to hit a jumping mai 3 times with it, if you hit her before she jumps you'll get to start from the 0 or if she hits you before you pull it off, the same happens , what i recommand is to hop to the training mode as geese, go to the macros menu and create a new macro then put the raging storm motion there and save the macro, then go to the challenge and use the macro.

Challenge 19

Task: Combo a ground normal move to a command move to a super special move
using daimon, combo a ground normal move , to a command move and then use a super special move, i'll be honest and say that i did use a macro here so i'm gonna share it with you guys :
The first number represents how many times you should input the move in the macro , for example if it's 10 x SK , then you have to put SK ten times , the R button is the one near the "end" button , you get to put a motion with it so it'll be inside the () , lastely don't get confused with the numbers i put in the second position , those are number motion for example if i put 10 x 8 , that means you should put the upward motion in the macro 10 times
7 x SK->R button ( 6SK)->5 x 3 -> 5 x R (3SP) -> 1 x R(2SP)-> 3 x R (1SP)->2 x 4 ->2 x N-> 633211->1 x R(1SP)-> 4 x R (4SP) ->3 x SP-> 15 x N
