Scripted Essences:
  • Wind Tower
  • Magma Sanctum
  • Water Garden

If you missed any of the scripted Essences, Rudo (the upper right NPC in the forge) will give you up to three.

  • Artifacters' Guild forge - One from the blacksmith (left NPC).
  • Ruins of Lod - First screen, obscured by a pillar
  • Disputed Island - Bottom right of the first screen
  • Desert - Bottom-right corner
  • Lost Cave - Top-right. Go backwards from the nearby puzzle to minimize battles.
  • Haunted Swamp - Same island as the cemetery/large grave hiding the secret passage. At the southern edge slightly obscured by a dead tree.
  • Butterfly Isle - Northern edge of the Isle. Normally, the bonus boss here starts immediately when you enter, so you have to beat it to get to the chest containing the Essence, BUT, if you head here as soon as you get the airship, you can grab it without fighting the boss first.
  • Mystic Cave - Step into the wind after the fourth puzzle.
  • Magma Sanctum - Second room, near the second puzzle, hidden behind a column, to the upper right

Been a hot minute since I played this, but I believe that there is twelve in total, yet. It could be that 0% of PS players have this due to a bug. I can't say that they're not aware of this, but I could be wrong.

Are there only 12 essences? I have found and equipped all of them on my artifacts and did not receive a trophy on PS. Also see that 0.0% have earned the trophy.

You can get the Butterfly Isle essence without fighting the boss. Just go there early after obtaining the Airship, before you qualify for the fight.
