Katzbalger

Katzbalger entered the AGL in the 2154 season, with a ship that was less racing vehicle, and more mobile weapons-platform. They enjoyed moderate success, but naturally weren't very popular amongst their rivals, especially Tenrai.

The team struggled with image problems until a couple of years ago, when they sponsored a cats-protection charity based in Berlin as part of a last-ditch publicity stunt. Promotional photographs of lead-pilot Lena Grünfeld surrounded by kittens won Katzbalger new fans almost overnight, which spurred a huge rebranding to de-emphasize the weaponry imagery in favour of cat theming.

The ship that Katzbalger are entering into the 2159 AGL is a far-cry from their intial efforts. Power has been diverted from the giant beam-cannon to the engine systems, resulting in one of the fastest ships on the grid - when going in a straight line, that is. If Grünfeld is able to wrestle the heavy and unwieldly chassis around the corners, there are very few teams that will be be able catch up.
