Archetype and Philosophy
Introduction
An archetype[spore.wikia.com] is the attribute given to empires in the Space stage. There are 10 archetype in Spore. The default of Wanderer is given to any species starting in Space, while the remaining 9 can only be obtained through playing earlier phases, completing a 'change archetype' mission (with the exception of Knights and Wanderers) or by using the 'setConsequenceTrait' cheat.

The archetype and its associated philosophy[spore.wikia.com] are given to the player's species depending upon the number of green, blue or red cards their species gained as it evolved. Each card is determined by play style and the last card achieved. The cards the player has obtained and their current trait for the current stage can be seen at any time using the history time line of their species. Alien species in the Space Stage also have their own random archetypes.

Bard (Philosophy of Chance)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Bard#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §10,000,000, the mission given is to collect 25 rare artifacts. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Bard's Soothing Song power.

Note that you may not collect 25 artifacts and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, THEN collect 25 artifacts. However, if you drop an artifact that you currently own and pick it back up it will be counted, but this only works once.
Diplomat (Philosophy of Order)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Diplomat_(philosophy)#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §5,000,000, the mission given is to form 5 new alliances. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Diplomat's Static Cling power.

Note: You may not make 5 alliances, and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, followed by forging five new alliances.
Ecologist (Philosophy of Life)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Ecologist#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §10,000,000, the mission given is to fill out 50 ecosystems. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Ecologist's Safari Vacuum power.

Note that you may not fill out 50 ecosystems and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, then fill out 50 ecosystems. Using the Species Eradicator to create an incomplete ecosystem and then refilling it does count to the 50 ecosystems you have to fill. Filling 50 ecosystems means completing any food level 50 times, not raising the T-Score 50 times.
Knight (Philosophy of Force)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Knight#Through_Mission
It is impossible to encounter Knights in the galaxy, as there are no AI empires that are Knights. It is possible to meet a Knight if one of your other saved games are Knights, but you will receive the Warrior mission instead.
Scientist (Philosophy of Science)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Scientist_(philosophy)#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §5,000,000, the mission given is to explore 20 non-planetary systems. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Scientist's Gravitation Wave power.

Note: you may not explore 20 non-planetary systems and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, THEN explore 20 non-planetary systems.
Shaman (Philosophy of Harmony)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Shaman#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §2,500,000, the mission given is to paint or sculpt 150 planets (Note: the in-game text just says to use the tools 150 times, but multiple uses on the same planet don't count). Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Shaman's Return Ticket power.

Note also that you may not use planet sculpting or painting tools 150 times and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, then use planet sculpting or painting tools 150 times.

An easy way to do this is not all at once, but when you go on a new planet, just use a sculpt or paint tool. Be careful not to use them on Empire-owned planets, because it may hurt their relation to you, and in rare cases, even lead to War.
Trader (Philosophy of Prosperity)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Trader_(philosophy)#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §2,500,000, the mission given is to sell 5,000 items. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Trader's Cash Infusion power.

Note that you may not sell 5000 items and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, THEN sell 5000 items.

Be sure that the Trader is not in war with another empire, otherwise, pick up the mission from the Trader's homeworld (this goes for any archetype, especially Warriors, since they constantly pick a fight with another empire). This is because if the planet in which you accepted the mission has a weak defense and is at war, it will be conquered. If the planet does get conquered, you will have to start the whole mission over, and you will have wasted your time doing the mission.
Wanderer (Philosophy of Order)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Wanderer#Through_Mission
You cannot become a Wanderer through missions. If you ask a player-made Wanderer empire to teach you to be like them, you will be given the Diplomat Mission instead. This makes it possible to turn 2 wanderer game saves both into diplomat without talking to other empires
Warrior (Philosophy of Force)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Warrior#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §2,500,000, the mission given is to conquer 20 systems. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Warrior's Raider Rally power.

Note that you may not conquer 20 systems and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, THEN conquer 20 systems.
Zealot (Philosophy of Faith)
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Zealot#Through_Mission
First you must ally with an empire following this philosophy with a strength factor of 4 or 5, then you may request to become 'like' them from the mission interface. After paying §5,000,000, the mission given is to create new colonies on 15 different planets. Upon completion return to claim your reward and you will change your philosophy and associated archetype, losing your old superpower and gaining the Zealot's Fanatical Frenzy power.

Note that you may not colonize 15 planets and then automatically complete the mission upon its acceptance. You must accept and pay for the mission first, and then colonize 15 planets. Acquiring another empire's existing colonies does not appear to contribute to the mission goal. You must construct colonies on 15 uninhabited planets (via the Colony Incredi-Pak) in order for the colony to count. It should count towards the mission goal if you destroy a foreign planet's existing cities or tribal huts (rendering the world uninhabited) and then colonize it.
Achievements
Achievements[spore.wikia.com]
Split Personality
Task: Complete a "Change Archetype" mission
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Split_Personality_(achievement)

(NOTE: You don't have to save if you want to keep your archetype)
If you are very close to becoming Omnipotent (Master Badge Level 10) and are close to finishing a philosophy-changing mission, you can easily get one or all of three achievements: the [your archetype] Hero, [your desired archetype] Passion, and [your desired achetype] Hero. Save and reach omnipotent on your archteype. Exit to the main menu, then restart the save file and complete the change archetype mission. Reach omnipotent. You have now earned the three achievements (if you haven't already).
  • The requirements are the same as the Split Personality badge.
  • In order to change your philosophy, you must do the following:
  • NOTE: You can't do this if you have the Omnipotent Master Badge (Level 10)
  1. Find an empire of your desired philosophy. You can find out an empire's philosophy by choosing "Diplomacy -> Tell me about your race."
  2. Take a look at its Empire-tier value, (the little yellow star with a number in it). If it is already 4 or 5 jump to the next step. If it is 1-3, ask the Empire to attack neighboring systems and assist them to ensure they succeed. In this way you can force an empire to expand, effectively increasing their Empire-tier value.
  3. Become their ally.
  4. Go into "Missions -> Teach me your ways".
  5. Do the associated philosophy quest. (note that to get this quest, you will have to pay up to 10,000,000 sporebucks)
  6. Return to receive your change in philosophy, which also changes your Archetype to one of the associated archetypes.
Alter Ego
Task: Play the Space stage as all 10 archetypes
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Alter_Ego

Alter Ego's Alter Ego
Task: Achieve Master Badge Level 10 as all 10 archetypes
http://spore.wikia.com/wiki/Alter_Ego's_Alter_Ego
  • Note that you must achieve the 10 level-10 Master Badges in the same galaxy; starting a new galaxy by re-installing, by deleting the pollination.package file, or by playing on a different computer doesn't count any Hero achievements from the old galaxy for this achievement.
  • A good way to achieve this is to change your archetype for badges before getting the Omnipotent badge, getting it, and exiting without saving. That way, you'll get both Passion and Hero Achievements, later getting the Alter Ego Achievement and the Alter Ego's Alter Ego achievement. (Note that you can't do a change archetype mission to gain the Wanderer and Knight archetype.)
