When you first get this game, Empire is probably the best faction to pick for your first campaign. unlike the vampire counts they have archers and unlike the dwarfs they have cavalry. They are a well-rounded faction that is fairly balanced in all areas and have the iconic Karl Franz as their leader. before starting the campaign it'd be wise to start as Karl Franz instead of Balthazar Gelt because he has the most fitting attributes for the start game.
