Silent Hill f takes roughly 20 hours to complete, however without spoiling anything, it does require a minimum of 2 playthroughs to get the full experience. :) It is different than previous Silent Hill games, but honestly, so is every Silent Hill game that comes out.

Is it good though?

Like all other Silent Hill games, it has deep lore and hidden symbolism. Everything means something obscure that typically require you watching a lore video afterwards, to figure out "what exactly happened" hehe. Which is a good thing imo. Gameplay is good too, and combat feels rewarding.

So yes, if you like Silent Hill, you should give this one a play. :)

I played Kingdom Come 2 on console, and now I'm back to play on PC.

The game is in my top favorite games of all time, and it's the type of game that if you like me, have even the SLIGHTEST interest in trying it out, but you are hesitant, then you wont be disappointed. <---

The KCD2 developers basically said, "let's make a game WE would wanna play", instead of going the "safe and boring route" like every AAA company does today. KCD2 is a completely unique game that you won't find anywhere else.

Here is a quick list of things to know:

Pros:
- Photo realistic graphics
- Every quest is interesting
- NPCs feel alive
- World makes you feel like you are LIVING back in time
- Good PC performance

Cons:
- Saving the game is a "resource".

The only minus I really have about the game, is the fact that saving the game require that you use a craftable drink called Saviour Schnapps... So really, the only "unlimited saving method", is to quit the game every time, since that will save the game. ':D

And yes, I know that having limited saves is the "authentic experience", to force the player into doing more alchemy to craft Saviour Schnapps... But the auto saving in the game doesn't exactly save the game after every quest... ':D Meaning you could spend 30min completing 2 quests.... then die.... and then respawn 30min ago in the same place where you booted up the game. ':D ':D

To me, replaying that much time because I died, isn't worth it hehe. But the good thing is that there is a mod to allow you unlimited saves. ;)

For reference, I'll just call Dying Light the Beast "DL3" to make things easier.

The differences between it and the previous 2 games are already showing in positive ways. I loved both the first and second Dying Light game, but like most fans have stated when it came to Dying Light 2, it was an obvious shift away from horror compared to Dying Light 1.

1. HORROR IS BACK!

In DL2 when you were seen by volatiles during the night, you "just outran them" fairly easily, and you could even just fight them one on one. It kind of felt like DL2 focused on larger quantities of WEAK enemies. Where as here in DL3, if a volatile finds you and starts a chase sequence... oooohhh boy you better prepare to get ****** if you don't have a save zone nearby. ':D

The horror feels MUCH more intimate and focused in DL3, and it's pretty obvious that the developers took it seriously, with all the negative feedback from DL2, in order to make DL3 the best it could be when it came to "horror".

2. MUCH BETTER COMBAT

- Zombies are harder to kill compared to DL2, and you gotta fight smart.
- They absolutely NAILED the weight behind your melee attacks.
- MUCH improved zombie dismemberment (probably the best in any games out there).
- Guns feel powerful, but ammo is scarce and alert zombies.
- Stamina management is a thing during combat, and it feels good.
- Stamina is gone while climbing, and instead allow you to parkour in a more fun way.
- Grappling hook is back, and MUCH better and more fun to use.
- The world feels dangerous, and you aren't the same overpowered killing machine, as you were in DL2.

All of the above mentioned points, makes the horror aspect of this game, 10 times better than DL2.

3. THE STORY...

Takes about 40 hours to complete, if you do all side missions too.

NPCs feel alive, the cutscenes are amazing, and the story feels grounded and engaging to a point where even side missions are 10/10, and make you WANT to do them.

Some people find the story "boring", where as I find it "realistic and grounded". In the same way as some people like over the top action movies, and others like grounded dramas.

Just finished the game after 23 hours of gameplay. There is A LOT of game here, so don't be scared that the game is "too short".

I have played pretty much every popular horror game over the past 20 years, and at this point I have become completely desensitized from "horror"... But dang was Silent Hill 2 Remake intense... ':D

This is the type of game, that I recommend you ask ChatGPT to give you "no spoiler explanations" of the symbolism in the game, as you progress, since it is VERY cryptic and psychological. I also personally think you probably enjoy this game more, of you are into psychological horror, otherwise you will just see it as "depressing and confusing".

Oh... And do yourself a favor, and turn OFF the radio you pick up, at the start of the game. It alerts you of nearby enemies by providing "static noises", but it makes the game SO MUCH WORSE. Turn it off in your inventory... You are welcome. ;)

This is pretty much the best horror game I have played in the last 10 years... So don't hesitate trying it out, if you are the SLIGHTEST interested. :)

I bought The Callisto Protocol on 85% sale for 8,84€, and here are my "no spoiler" thoughts on it after 3 hours...

Firstly... Callisto Protocol is a game that tries REALLY hard to mimic Dead Space in many ways, to a point where you might actually Google whether or not it is the same developer.

Most bad reviews you read, will call it "B-tier Dead Space", or criticize it because it's "not as good as Dead Space", and see the differences as a negative, rather than trying to rate it for what it actually tries to be. The main two differences between this game and Dead Space, is that combat is entirely different, and this game feels A LOT more linear.

And because of those two differences, people will see them as negatives because the only thing they can think is "is it Dead Space?"... Which is too bad, since Callisto Protocol is a pretty solid game that holds its own.

THE GAME IS LINEAR

This is a big difference between Callisto Protocol and Dead Space, since Callisto Protocol is VERY linear, and has you basically go from A to B without much deviation. Same goes from exploring, which there is very little off besides a few "secrets", that you can find easily by simply checking out the area.

However... Callisto Protocol being linear isn't a bad thing, since it is obvious that the game tries to come off as a bit more of a "cinematic experience", than Dead Space did. Basically it half'n-half feels like playing a movie.

"COMBAT IS BAD"

If you are looking for a challenging "survival horror game", then you might need to amp up the difficulty a bit in this game, since enemies basically just attack you one at a time, even when there are multiple around you. And this is obviously done to make the melee combat feel a bit more forgiving and satisfying. And combat DOES feel satisfying, but some might find it too easy.

While you DO have guns in Callisto Protocol, the combat is mainly focused around melee combat, with you dodging or blocking enemy attacks. This is very different from Dead Space, where combat is more centered around shooting.

The melee combat feels VERY satisfying in this game, but some might find it a bit too repetitive, since dodging and blocking is "half-automatic", where basically you just need to hold down a button, and not "tapping it at the right moment".

So all in all, combat isn't bad. In fact, it's VERY satisfying. If anyone says it is bad, it's because they can't refrain from comparing it to Dead Space combat.

I personally enjoy the combat because I see it for what it is, and not what it's not.

IS IT WORTH BUYING?

On the 8,84€ sale I got it on, it was an amazing buy. However the 58,99€ price tag it normally has, might be a bit steep.

The game IS good, but apparently people claim it takes 7 hours to beat, and because of how linear it is, it doesn't have much replay value. So I recommend getting it on sale. :) Not necessarily as cheap as me, but at least 25% off is a good price.

--- TLDR ---

Get this game if you have played Elden Ring dry, and "need something new to sink your teeth into". It's the worst Fromsoftware game to date, but it is an okay piece of fun for the "small" price tag it has.

--- IS THE GAME WORTH GETTING? ---

I assume people reading this, has a general idea about the "Fortnite + rogue-like" gameplay loop this game has:

I'm a DIE HARD fan of the Dark Souls series ever since DS1 came out for the Playstation, so let me tell you that if you go into this game expecting "Elden Ring"... You WILL get disappointed. You need to view this game as a "fun little mini game, with Elden Ring'ish like gameplay".

When it comes to "re-playability", about 2-3 runs into the game, you will have experienced pretty much the full game. And from there on out, there isn't anything "new" to experience... It's that same gameplay loop over and over again from here on out.

About 5 hours into this game, you will feel like every run looks the same... Randomization of the map is VERY minimal, and it essentially feels like the only thing changing, are the bosses from run to run. But the map itself is 90% the same every run... Which get's old quick...

It's basically like playing a single zone in Elden Ring, over and over again, VERY FAST, and trying to "do it better next time"... If you don't like that type of gameplay loop, then don't get this game. :/

The gameplay itself is "okay". It's fun trying out something a bit different, in which you pick a character with specific strength, weaknesses and playstyle. As well as their unique special abilities. But again, there isn't much depth in their gameplay, although I do appreciate all the characters feeling completely different from one another.

--- CAN YOU SOLO THE GAME? ---

The short answer is yes... but no...

In the same way as "you can lift a large rock on your own", you can also "technically" play Nightreign solo... However, if you are 3 people lifting the rock, it SURE IS A LOT EASIER! ':D

The game is designed for 3 player coop, and no amount of nerfing or balancing the "solo mode" will change that. It's clearly build from the ground up, as a team based game. It doesn't matter if the game has a solo mode, if it is a 1/10 experience compared to playing it in coop.

I wanted to give solo play a chance... But after experiencing how EXTREMELY bad solo runs are, I decided to never do it again... Playing with 2 random strangers, beats doing a solo run any day.

--- THE GAME HAS BIG PROBLEMS... ---

You need to expect moments, where the game freezes for 3-5 sec at a time... Luckily it currently isn't ANYWHERE as bad as it was at launch...

UI issues are also a BIG issue... You have NO idea if certain weapons are good or bad during gameplay. Like... AT ALL.

In order to get just a small idea if the weapon is right for your character, you need to go into your inventory to see more, which means you HAVE to pick up a weapon to inspect it......... Which means dropping an item to leave space for it...... and taking up precious time, which you have LITTLE of during a run.....

It feels like the devs didn't have play-testers, tell them about these UI issues...':D

And OG MY GOD.... the "lock-on" system in Nightreign is SO frustrating compared to Elden Ring....

DON'T get me started on trying to lock-onto a downed teammate, in order to attack them and revive them....... Honestly... it's easier to just "free-attack" without locking onto them... ':D because you FOR THE LIFE OF YOU CANNOT lock onto a teammate, until you attempted 5-6 times! DURING A BOSS FIGHT WHILE TRYING TO STAY ALIVE!

And as it is right now, you can't play duo...? You can play solo, which is INCREDIBLY unbalanced against you... or play with 2 others...

And that's just the technical issues! :D

The game itself is repetitive, and dull after 5+ hours... It needs MUCH more variety and randomization, which honestly, consumers expected based on trailers and such... :/ The game has LITTLE randomization, and you WILL feel like it's just the same map over and over again....

So yeah....

--- SHOULD YOU BUY NIGHTREIGN? ---

Do I recommend this game? Only if you are a die hard souls fan... If not, then no...

In all honesty, this is probably the worst game to come out of Fromsoftware to date.

If you are looking for something new after having spend countless hours in Elden Ring, experiencing everything that game has to offer, then Nightreign might be "something new to try".

Nightreign isn't a "bad game"... It just feels VERY lackluster in content. :/

It's ONE MAP with only 5% of the layout/enemies changing each run, and I feel like the devs haven't fully committed to the game, because they wanted to see if "people would buy it first"...

Imagine the feeling you get from buying the new DOOM game, and it only comes with the first level finished, but it has "slight randomization each run"... That's what Nightreign feels like...

--- DO I ENJOY NIGHTREIGN? ---

I'm a souls fan by heart, and I do enjoy this game for what it is... But I did go into this game knowing what it was before I bought it.

The ONE thing that keeps me playing Nightreign, is the unique combat, cool skins I can unlock, and upgrades... Everything else, Elden Ring does better.

Game looks good visually, but like the intro splash screen says, the optimization needs a lot of work. With all settings on the lowest, my 16GB RAM, i7-8700, and RTX 4070 was able to get 40-50fps.

The game itself is good, and is excellent at giving the player that .... "cosmic horror feeling" that I was hoping it would. :) It's the type of game that basically takes you from A to B, while getting the next key to unlock the next area, but it does it extremely well and in an entertaining way.

I'll definitely keep my eye out. :)

Theme, visuals, and cinematics are 10/10.

But let's talk about combat and movement controls... :/

I don't know what it is, but controls feels "unfinished"... As if there are smooth animations, mixed with sudden movements, as you move your character... I think the best way to describe the movement of your character, is it feeling "indie game"... like when the devs tried REALLY hard to get it to be good, but only managed to get it 80% of the way there.

Combat also feels too basic, with dodging also feeling off half the time, to the point where I'd rather not dodge. Parrying also takes some getting used to, and I'm a Dark Souls veteran who loves using parries.

It's too bad that combat and controls are missing the target by just enough, for it to feel frustrating. :/ Otherwise it would have been a good game to sink my time into, since the rest of it seems great so far.

I have 100 playtime hours on PC, and even more on Playstation.

This "enhanced" edition does come with slight improvements, but it is in no way "next gen graphics" or anything like that. For some reason, the game still has a washed out yellow look to it, which can easily be tweaked to make the game look twice as good... But they didn't, so....

So do yourself a favor and install ReShade for the game, and tweak the visuals yourself, or download a preset. It's kind of annoying that they released a "enhanced edition", but didn't bother with tweaking the hideous filter the game has. ':D

TLDR

Game is fantastic, and there is a demo you can download to try it out for yourself. :) Expect Skyrim'ish gameplay, but with MUCH darker themes mixed into it. And make sure you EXPLORE, don't rush from "main quest" to "main quest", or you take 80% out of the fun.

"IT'S LIKE SKYRIM"

The best way to describe this game, is that it is kind of like playing Skyrim when it comes to exploration and combat... but with a MUCH darker world and theme mixed into it. Imagine Berserk's dark story, mixed with Skyrims gameplay.

And by "Skyrim", I mean that it's a game that demand that you like to explore, instead of "just following the main quest". It really is a "true RPG", where curiosity rewards you in almost everything you explore, in both gear and new quests.

My favorite part about this game, is that it isn't afraid to go "dark" in it's story. And as you explore, you will discover A LOT of "mini tales" of the world, as long as you pay attention to the environment, NPCs, and notes laying around. And you will QUICKLY find yourself loosing track of time, because of how immersive the story telling is.

And the game has A LOT of content. It is VERY impressive given that it's not a AAA studio.

"IT'S NOT LIKE SKYRIM"

While the game DOES have rag-doll physics on enemies, you should not expect the same wonky environmental physics that makes Skyrim unique. There is no "picking up items or dead enemies" by holding a button, and environment and items in the world, are statically glued in place.

Also, the world (so far in my 5 hour play time) is more inhabited by enemies and monsters, than NPCs and towns like Skyrim is. Again... I might need to get a bit more into the game, to discover if towns exist, but so far friendly NPCs have been singular, and spread around the world...

And lastly, the developers are not a big studio like Bethesda who made Skyrim, so it will of course show when playing the game... But don't let that discourage you, since the content and quality is there, and it is obvious that the scope the team set for the game, was realistic in what they could accomplish. It is VERY impressive.

COMBAT

Combat is 9/10, since it feels VERY impactful when you attack enemies, both in how they react, and your character feels as you attack. There is a lot of skill that goes into fighting, since dodging and parrying is a big part of it. You also have many different loadouts you can customize and combine, which gives combat a lot of flavor. Also the resource management for stamina and mana is 10/10.

The one "negative" I have so far, is that enemies can be easily fooled when it comes to moving around environment, and in some cases bosses can be completely cheesed. Which... I guess you could argue is a charm of the game, in the same way you could cheese fights in Skyrim.

BUGS

It's early access \o/ So there are some bugs with both UI and gameplay. And I had 1 crash during my 5 hours of game time (which happened because I ALT + TABed out to write my wife on Facebook... So I count the crash as a "self cause".

I did once notice that the game time slowed down A LOT all of a sudden constantly, until I died or re-loaded the game, almost as if the engine couldn't handle time properly because of a combat slomo bug, or something... Or maybe because of a quality setting like DLSS, which the games physics engine had a hard time handling.

Also, if you encounter stuttery movement when simple walking with your character, try turning off V-sync and DLSS. One of those two settings caused it for me.

MUSIC

The music in the game is made by Danheim... Do I need to say more? ':D It REALLY sets the theme for the game.
