Huge lover of the original Dawn of War, my friends and I still played it occasionally up until this Definitive Edition came out.

I am not recommending this simply because they have broken the AI.
Everything else about it is great, the path finding is improved and the graphics look great, overall an improvement on the original title.
However the computers don't tech up properly and playing the game against an AI opponent leaves for a very shallow experience, until this is fixed, I cannot recommend purchasing this game.

Since the launch of Season 6, the game is broken, input lag and stuttering has broken the game for many users and the devs have refused to comment on it, has been like this for over a month now.

EDIT: 11/01/2023 - Still broken, tried to submit a support ticket 3 times now and support have dropped my ticket every time.

Not sure why this expansion has received so many negative reviews, although I can easily say it's not worth the price that you could arguably pay for a full game.
But, as with all things Paradox, wait for a sale, or a bundle package, this is how you purchase Paradox games, you never buy a full game and all it's DLC's and pay full price, that's absurd. Price aside, the expansion is great, here's why:
Without the expansion, you can literally just click two buttons ("Boost popularity", "Stage Coup") and you will temporarily spend political power on staging a coup in another country, it's incredibly easy to pull off, and can make a tough war incredibly easy to win, when you can just time war declarations with your organised coups.
This expansion not only eliminates the ridiculous cheese that existed beforehand, but actually adds a lot of other various espionage tactics that you can pull off.

Whilst this mod isn't worth the price, it's definitely worth having to complete the game, so add it to your wishlist and pick it up on sale.

If you purchase this game with the intention of playing with friends, I have bad news for you:
If you purchase the expansions, but your friends don't have expansions, you're going to be in a bad situation.
To play with your friends, you will have to UNINSTALL, yes that's right, you have to uninstall the expansions.
Then you have to create a new character to play the base game, because your current characters that you created whilst the expansions were installed cannot be reverted back.
THEN, after you have created a new character, and played with your friends, the second you reinstall the expansions so you can play your main character again, ALL of your characters are converted to the expansion version, regardless of whether or not you don't touch them during the time in which you have the expansion installed.
This means that you either NEVER play the expansions, or you NEVER get to play with your friends, unless they purchase the same expansions that you have.

There are some things they did REALLY well, the terrain looks AMAZING, but one of my major gripes is that you are very limited with how much you can explore it. It may be open world, but you can't climb trees or anything, there's not much in the way of "loot" that encourages you to look around for hidden treasure.
Which moves me to my next issue with the game, the loot system, I reckon I've searched 100 chests by now, and only ever found med kits, completely takes the excitement out of finding loot when I can accurately anticipate that it's just going to be another health pack.
Combat is fun, but I have quickly come to learn that it is very much like Assassins creed and most other melee combat games where all you have to do is parry and you will dominate most combat situations with ease.
And oh my god the character development is so cheesy and lame, I know it's meant to have like a "family friendly" kind of vibe about it, but I feel like I'm in the middle of a Disney movie, when a lot of the dialogue consists of stuff like "I love you Mooma!", "I'll follow you anywhere Mooma!", and to have it all narrated by the one voice makes empathizing with characters difficult, it really takes away from their individuality.

The Armor and weapon customization is kind of fun, but unfortunately, like many RPG's that miss the mark in this area, I end up having to choose between what looks appealing, and what gives me the best stats, you can never have both, this of course takes away all the fun out of customization, as I end up focusing on the stat changes as I move down the list of available customizations, rather than looking at the visual change itself.

I also found the lighting effects to be totally whack, moving your character for some reason changes the position of the sun in this game and shadows are always behind objects in relation to where your character is, not where the light is coming from.

Whilst I can still appreciate the beauty of this game and respect the effort and creativity the developers have put into it, unfortunately, it just seems to fall short in many areas that I would deem to be vital for a game such as this.

The game has some bugs, but that is to be expected of a game this size on its launch day, I can't help but think that the majority of the people making complaints about the game have never played the likes of Skyrim, Witcher, Fallout, GTA, or any huge, open world RPG of this calibre. The bugs I have come across so far haven't been too bad and the ones that have been bad can be avoided or worked around.
Asides from that, the story is amazing and even the side quests and missions are engaging, even Skyrim had its dull and repetitive quests, where all you had to do was go and kill some bandit leader in a cave, where in Cyberpunk 2077, every quest feels different and unique.
The environment CDPR have created looks incredible, despite the fact that the game is missing a lot of the interactive characters and objects that were promised, they have done an amazing job at pulling off the Bladerunner style dystopia of the future.

All in all, I highly recommend this game, if you hate bugs so much, then I would suggest waiting 12 months for a polished game, or just don't play open world RPG's.

BROKEN GAME.
Played multiple games with friends and encounter all kinds of new problems every time.
UPlay is CRAP and Ubisoft games are consistently broken with little to no support!

The game will be running fine and then just crashes randomly, with no explanations as to why, apparently there are quite a number of people on the forums having the same problem and there is no fix.

Also... NO HEADSHOTS?? I shot a deer once in the head and then twice in the backside as it ran away and I had to follow it for miles with a "very low bleed rate", this would have to be the first shooter game I have ever played which does not take headshots into account, for a game which prides itself on its realism, this is a real deak breaker.

I have spent years playing Squad, I have not played Post Scriptum, which is the WWII variant, but considering how similar Hell Let Loose is to Squad, I am going to make a direct comparison, both are great games, so I will simply point out the differences and let you decide which you would prefer.

Visuals:
Graphics:
The game engine for Hell Let Loose is a few years younger than in Squad, and it really shows, the lighting effects and terrain detail, all the way to the character and weapons modelling look amazing, however (Just like Squad), the engine seems to lack optimization somewhat and you will find that you need to turn a lot of settings down so that you don't tank your graphics card, I recommend a beast of a gaming machine to even come close to appreciating this game with near fully fleshed out settings, I run a 1080ti, 8700k and have to turn most settings down to low or medium to get about 80fps.
Furthermore, there is a bug where your settings reset every time you relaunch the game, so each time you get into the game, you will need to optimize your graphics settings all over again (annoying!)
Sound Effects:
The sound effects in Hell Let Loose are seriously lacking, some of the audio effects are decent enough, such as artillery guns firing and tank explosions, even the M1 Garand has a nice sound to it, but overall the sound effects really lack the punch I feel is required for an immersive war experience, most of the weapons sound flat, like you're firing a paintball gun, grenade explosions, even from a few metres away, sound like firecrackers, and the tank engines sound like someone driving a go kart. The lack of decent audio effects in this game has a huge impact on the immersive experience of the game, it takes away from the awesome graphics on show. This is something that Squad has pulled off really well, when you play Squad, everything from driving a big supply truck to firing a weapon sounds amazing, I froth setting up a 50. cal machine gun in that game, because the audio is LOUD and packs a punch, even firing at nothing is heaps of fun, just because the game makes you truly feel like you are sitting behind pure destruction.

Gameplay:
Teamplay:
This is the big one, this is the number one reason you are all looking at these games, is it not? A lot of us are sick of the selfish gameplay that is displayed, even in games like Call of Duty or Battlefield, where there are team based game modes, most people fight for themselves and only communicate to abuse other players. We want a REAL team experience, we want to be part of something bigger, a team that has worked together to achieve victory over a tough and determined enemy. There are a few important details to this, that I will explain with some detail, so I will break this down even further:
Community:
At the moment, this is the SOLE reason why I would recommend Hell Let Loose over Squad, originally the community in Squad was fantastic and was much like the community you will experience in Hell Let Loose, the majority of people are friendly towards new players and are more than willing to teach the game to someone that has never stepped foot into a game of this caliber before. Squad seems to have lost this very important feature over time and the community in Squad seems to have been replaced by slightly newer players that contribute less to the teamwork than the predecessors who played the game a couple of years ago. I suppose when you sit a game in Early Access for going on 5 years, adding what feels like very little to the game, your dedicated player base are going to lose interest, this is a subject I will touch on later.
Forced Teamwork:
This is something that both games need to implement a lot better, and I believe is a good reason as to why Squad has lost the appeal that it once had. While both games do reward players for good teamwork, with providing everyone with a more enjoyable experience, and likely resulting in victory for the better communicating team, it is not punishing enough for players that refuse to partake in this part of the game. This can be incredibly frustrating for players that are playing the game as intended, especially if you're in a position of leadership. As a commander or Squad leader, if you have other squad leaders or squad members that do not communicate and typically run around doing whatever they feel like, it can have a huge impact on the difficulty of you achieving any objectives you may have, making for a frustrating experience and at the end of the day, if that is the kind of game we wanted to play, we could just play something like Battlefield instead.
The kick vote system in Hell Let Loose needs a huge overhaul, as it is currently, it does not work, the idea that the opposing team is allowed to vote on whether a player on the opposite side is kicked or not, is ridiculous! If the Germans have a terrible commander who does nothing and does not communicate and they are trying to kick him from the game, but the Allies are allowed to vote, and can clearly see what is happening, of course they are going to down vote that action, as it is going to benefit their chance of victory. What I would like to see implemented in Hell Let Loose, is a kick vote system which gives more power to Commanders and Squad Leaders, +5 for commander, +3 for Squad leaders, that way the players which contribute the most to the team experience can actually have some power over this problem and get rid of the ability to kick vote players on the opposite team, it's ridiculous! Also, it would be nice if you could detail the reason you are kicking said player, so that people can see for themselves and have a more informed opinion as to why they should or shouldn't vote to kick a certain player. I also feel like some sort of system for squad members should be put in place, when I go squad leader and end up with squad members that don't follow orders or communicate, I kick them from the squad, simple as that, I think other squad leaders should take up this method, as it should help to persuade players to use the teamwork and communication that the game asks of them. Some kind of system that adds a mark against a player when a Squad leader boots them from a squad, so as to warn other squad leaders about that player should be implemented, that way, the new Squad leader can prompt that player to play by the rules, or they will be kicked from that squad as well.
Maps/Gamemodes:
I feel like Hell Let Loose has taken a page directly out of Squads book with their gameplay modes, the way conquest mode is set up, so that their are multiple objectives, but each team has to capture consecutive objectives to unlock the ability to move on to the next ones, then there's the offensive game mode, which has one team defending objectives, which they can't capture back, and the other side has a certain limit on how long they can assault each objective for.
I feel like this is something that Squad pulls off far better than Hell Let Loose, I know the use of a ticket system for counting team loss is quite an old school method for determining the outcome, but the bottom line is that it just WORKS. The idea of victory conditions being determined by a timer in Hell Let Loose often feels like an unfair system at times. (Continued)
