Just finished Thomasina's adventure in Bewlay. An evocative location with great characters and a story that has gripped me to the very end and some really striking artwork as well. I want more! Highly recommend this to fellow point and click fans who appreciate great narrative.

Charming, beautifully drawn world with pleasing music to chill out to and explore each maze finding every secret each one holds. If you want a relaxing good time then you need to play this game.

I honestly dug this game. If you're a fan of Doctor Dekker or The Shapeshifting Detective than you'll have a lot of fun with this. I like the idea of expanding the world of these games but more importantly having separate episodic mysteries very much fit with the characters established elsewhere and allowed for a wide variety of short stories to be told. Something I hope they return to in future tales (If that ever happens).

I quite enjoy these kind of games and it's a shame there isn't too many of them out there. The contradiction structure was interesting but it overall felt very rigid and would be somewhat laborious when trying to find the exact contradictory phrases that moved the story along which would slow things right down. When it worked it was great but would at times feel like old school point and clicks trying all kinds of combinations to see what worked. I imagine trying a more flexible contradiction system would be a nightmare to write on a budget so it is what it is in this regard. I did enjoy the story and acting from the performers very much even the various hammy efforts put in by some which I imagine could be helped with some more direction. I did really enjoy this game and hope there is more to come as I feel it is worth a punt and some of the issues I had would probably be resolved by using the "tips/cheat" system in place instead of trying to solve the case without it like I was. PLEASE MAKE MORE.

I felt compelled to play this game after having completed its follow up Dreamfall: The Longest Journey and that is the only caveat I feel is necessary to recommend this game. If you have an appreciation for the other games in the series than the completionist in you is the only reason to play this game. Graphically this game has not aged well and works counter to the fantasy/futuristic atmosphere that the game tries to create. The lead character April is somewhat interesting and well voice acted but almost all the other characters get very little attention and with regards to how it ends completely forgotten about. As a point and click it's equal parts rewarding and utterly nonsensical but thankfully you can enable the ESC button in the menu to skip through dialogue, slow moving character animations, cutscenes (They are unintentionally laughable) and to transition from the various locations you visit (and from one side of the screen to the other).
