The concept itself is great, especially whilst played with friends. The monetization policy on the other hand is really not ethical, as the price is not displayed on Steam, and advertised as a monthly 2,50 Euro subscription, but actually you are charged for a year. And the yearly "fee" is 29.99 Euro. If you multiply 2.50 by 12 months, it should be 25 Euro. It literally is false advertising.

It is on the brink of getting investigated for predatory monetization..

Still better, than EU5, even with the scummy DLC policy of Paradox, where they release beta builds and fix their games for extra cash..

It was about to turn out great, but sadly became an abondaneware.. The basics are okay, but it really feels like a dumped down version of a greater concept. The gall to add a "Victory Edition" that contains nothing in-game, and a soundtrack, that you can buy separetly... this still amazes me.

At the time of writing, endgame content shows up around 20-hours playtime (pretty much 100% at this point), but it still offers great amount of rougue-like replayability.

The game is still being filled in with new content, placeholder art is regularly changed for original graphical work.

The combat tactics, weapon variety is all really good, especially as you can see modular vehicles change functionality with different weapons. E.g. An APC with a machine gun can carry troops, but if you put on a heavy mortar, tank-turret, or a dubble gatling gun (my God it is fun to use the dubble gatling gun), troops won't be able to get it.

All armour and weapons you equip squads with actually change the looks of the characters themselves which is a great addition.

But all-in-all, the most shining part are the squad leaders (SLs), who all have characters, reactions to each other, and voice acting that has no right to be this good for a tactical shooter. If we get the amount of support for the game that we got for Battle Brothers, this will be one of the greatests out there!

For those that are new and wondering:

Only buy this otherwise fun board-game-esque game of fighting, dicing and card collecting if you can convince at least one (preferrably 2-3) friends to play with you, as the multiplayer matchmaking RARELY finds you anyone to play with.

Yes, the chest updates are automated, the studio behind Armello went into self proclaimed "hybernation mode" due to financial strains.

This was truly great, nice to see some lore from the world of Menace especially. I think some of the resources are not shown before deployment, but it might just be restricted because of the demo. Good riddance, dear devs! Keep on cooking.

The concept in itself is nice, with a reflection to the current war in Ukraine. The game is pretty arcade-esque, as you score points, and unlock new toys to fight with. The theme is mostly unserious, feels like a sort of parody most of the time - with feeding dogs with dropped meat, and taking stolen washing machines back to villagers by the dozens.

In my opinion it could've been better with missions separated out, - and not mixed together in one larger map - where you could upgrade your drone / buy new drones, like actual operators do. It would make much more sense, as in reality operators score "points" from taking out targets, which they can buy more equipment with.

The game crashed several times for me whilst dropping multiple grenades, and at the 4th crash I decided to do something else with my time, thats why I have only 66 mins.

The fact that content gets taken down we originally <b> payed for </b> is next to insane. I don't mind payed games later on turning free - especially multiplayer ones, since that can increase the player-base. But taking content out - whole storilines gone, items become useless, loot discarded etc. - that you have payed for is something else.

You don't see something like that in other large MMOs.

And this is not the first time, a similar thing happened in the original Destiny. Several game-modes that were in the intial release were later put behind payed DLC, and taken away from players who only bought the game on release. How can such a business policy be not only called normal, but actively defended?

A well-wanted addition to an already decent game, proving the devs listen to the community.

Not much was added other than the game mode itself, but as a sandbox mode there is plenty of playtime for your buck. In my humble oppinion, the pricing is really consumer friendly, as most of Slitherine's games tend to go in the higher ranges.

Recommended.
