I usually don't write reviews, but being an avid Neverhood fan and a Kickstarter backer of this project, I think I can give you a detailed review.
The main question hanging over the game: does it live up to be the true spiritual successsor to The Neverhood?
In short: no. Can't even say it comes close.

GAMEPLAY
Similar to The Neverhood, this is a 2D adventure/puzzle game (Unlike The Neverhood, no first-person segments.)
When it comes to the puzzles, it's a mixed bag of quality. Some puzzles are challenging and memorable, some others ridiculously easy, some are overly cryptic and not fun.
The Neverhood was famous/notorious for a particular overly long corridor where your ONLY objective was going right for 10 or so screens, only to wander back after reaching the end. In that game, it was original and charming. For some reason, they wanted to capitalize on and one-up this aspect of the original, creating tedious overly-long timekillers, and puzzles where you KNOW what you are supposed to be doing, but need to do a task several times in a cryptic way, going between the connected scenes over and over again to see if you are actually making progress.
Your loyal friend Beak-Beak, is great at being in the way when trying to interact with objects, and restricting SOME identical below and above-waist buttons to only be able to be pressed by a certain character is a great way to confuse your players. (Why can't Tommy bend down? Or Beak jump a bit to press a button? Or atleast be consistent with it?)
The game in it's current state, despite the year-long delay, is riddled with bugs, both graphical and gameplay-like, some even stopping you from completing the game.

STORY
Unlike The Neverhood, which created a clay-made world and sucked you in it, this game barely has anything going for it other than the clay scenery.
The big collection of cutscenes which you "properly unlock" at the end of the game creates a fine backstory, but your little journey (as in, 4 hours altogether if you don't know what you're doing) is still rather meaningless and bland. They added voice actors to our main characters, but forgot to add any lines for them, lol. Both Tommy and Beak Beak barely say anything despite being able to, leaving them completely characterless and uninspiring.
The rest of the cast is even less developed.

A fine little game for a couple of bucks, if you are new to the point and click genre and want to kill a couple of hours. Other than that just pass until a sale comes.

A great game. Ranting and downvoting this game because some (most likely) temporary flaws is stupid. People don't seem to realize this game is an early-access game.
A pretty amazing one though.

Such a great military simulator you can't turn your head around in a car to look around where are you supposed to go...
A Z-category shooter but you still have to use controls like if it would be StarCraft. I don't play an FPS to use my whole keyboard to issue broken commands.
Don't buy this game. For a strategy game there's only horribly-done strategy elements, and for an FPS there's horribly done FPS elements in it. For squads and commanders, buy Battlefield or any other non-garbage tactical shooter, this game is just bad.

Great game!
This was my very first CS game, and I trained my FPS skill on CoD, so I was pretty noobish when I got into it, and if the same applies, you will be too.
Don't buy this game if you're new to the series and don't want to learn how to play it (properly).
But, once you can actually play it, the game becomes endless fun!
